If we have a full-strength team, with Neville, Ferdinand and Vidic, I'd go with this. Van der Sar
Neville - Ferdinand - Vidic - Heinze
Smith
Carrick - Scholes
Ronaldo - - - - - - - - - Giggs Rooney We've enjoyed seeing Smith attacking lately, but I think what we need for this game is Smudge man marking Kaka, have him get a few 'fair' crunching tackles in early on, let the boy know he is in a game. Initionally I was going to say stick Ferdinand in that defensive midfield position and have him man mark Kaka, but I think Kaka would be too tricky for Rio. He'd have more a hard job against Smith.

totally agree with you...we need a ball winner who can pick up a yellow card to man mark kaka...and i cant see anyone but smith doing it...he has quite the speed and he is a ball winner, and he works like hell!

Something's confusing.
Giggsy and Kaka got booked last Tuesday. But no site mentions them in the disciplinary info for the tie, so I assume they are not in danger of getting suspended (unless sent off, of course). Why is this so?

Why is this so? i dont remember them getting booked?...hmm... i think they still are in danger of getting suspended... i think they should make a new rule that if you get booked twice in the semi final(one in 1st leg one in 2nd) you should not get suspended for the final, only if you get a red...or if you are for some reason got yellow cards so you will miss the final, i mean it shouldnt be that a player missed a final unless he gets a red... finals are huge and sometimes if the ref makes a bad decision !?

Kaka had his hand on Giggsy's neck! #furious# May be the reason they are not showing is that non of them have that many yellows to evict them from the coming competition.

After seeing those photos of Kaka putting his hand around Giggs' neck i feel like killing him! How can he do that to our captain! Wonder what Rooney would have done if he was in Giggs' place.

And Kaka did deserve a Red card after making many harsh tackles on our players in the second half.

Vidic had a scan on Monday, didn't he? What's the news? I think this is all part of SAF's plan and i think we are going to have some surpise appearences tomorrow night especially in defence.

Most of todays papers seem to think that Vidic will only make the bench tomorrow but that Rio will almost certainly play.

Vida & Rio have both travelled with the squad to Milan, so it's likely they'll play some part tomorrow night
Fergie: 'It's too early to say whether they will play, they will travel with the squad and we'll decide after training tonight.'
Saha should be on the bench

Very good interview with Gattusso:
Gennaro Gattuso cannot believe AC Milan are one step away from the Champions League final after a nightmare start to the season.
The Rossoneri began the Serie A campaign with an eight-point deduction for match-fixing and had to go through pre-qualifying in Europe's elite club competition.
They have also overcome numerous injuries and go into Wednesday's semi-final return leg against Manchester United determined to write another glorious page in the club's history books.
"Considering all the problems we've had this season, we can truly say that it is almost a miracle that we have arrived so far," said Gattuso on the club's official website.
"We had to play the Champions League qualifiers, we had to alter our preparation plans, and those players (including Gattuso) who were a part of Italy's World Cup-winning side had limited holiday.
"We also had so many injured players this season, but despite everything, no-one has yet been able to bring us down."
The Rossoneri go into the encounter at the San Siro needing to overturn the 3-2 deficit conceded at Old Trafford last week.
The AC Milan midfielder believes the support of their fans will be crucial for their hopes of earning a ticket to the final in Athens on May 23.
"Now we have the possibility to take another giant step and oust a top club like Manchester United and we need something special, the support of our fans," said Gattuso.
"We will show our pride, passion and experience but this time our fans, that have always been very passionate, will need to surpass themselves.
"I want an atmosphere like that seen at Old Trafford, warm but correct.
"May their support of our fans help us fly to Athens."
The pride of Italian football rests on the Rossoneri's hands as they remain the only non-British club left in the Champions League, with Chelsea and Liverpool battling in the other semi-final.
"Against Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs' Manchester United, we will try to defend the honour of Italian football," said Gattuso.
"We also want to make our club history even more prestigious because no-one has played four semi-finals in the last five editions of the Champions League as we have.
"If we manage to overturn last week's defeat at Old Trafford we will also have the possibility to play in our third final."
However, should they fail to succeed on Wednesday, the Rossoneri will be the first to congratulate Man Utd.
"If, despite our efforts, Manchester happen to be stronger than us, we will accept the verdict in good sporting spirit," said Gattuso.

Football 365:
Defensive duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand both flew out to Milan, with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson still to decide whether to name them in his Champions League semi-final line-up.
The Red Devils take a 3-2 lead into the decider against AC Milan at the San Siro, but Ferguson knows the presence of Vidic and Ferdinand could be invaluable as they look to preserve their narrow lead.
Ferdinand aggravated a groin injury against Middlesbrough 10 days ago and Vidic has not played since breaking a collarbone in the Premiership triumph over Blackburn on March 31.
However, Ferguson was optimistic enough over both players to name them in his travelling party.
"It is too early to say whether they will play," said the Scot. "They will travel and we will assess the situation after training."
With Patrice Evra suspended, the odds are at least one of them will play, allowing Gabriel Heinze to switch into his favoured left-back role.
Louis Saha could be on the bench despite his recent hamstring problems although the absence of Gary Neville will only fuel speculation the United skipper's ankle injury will rule him out for the season.
Heinze, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes - who famously missed the 1999 Champions League final - are one caution away from a ban, although Ferguson will hope the trio remain fully focused on steering United to what would be only their third European Cup final.
Twice before, in 1958 and 1969, United have fallen to Milan at this stage of the competition. Ferguson himself has suffered semi-final defeats against Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
But, a better statistic for United followers is that their club have not lost a European tie after winning the first leg since 1985 and have never done so under Ferguson.

We just need the spirit of '99. Remember we only drew against Juve at OT and won the return 3-2 after going 2-0 down! I cannot see this game being 0-0; even though I would welcome that score Milan have struggled at the San Siro (Lille, Celtic, Bayern), therefore we do have a chance beating Milan on their own turf. The possible return of Rio and Vida will help take the pressure off the midfield and attack; I'm assuming that at least one of them will play in order to switch Heinze to left back. I can't say I'm looking forward to the game, simply because Man U have a habit of inducing high levels of stress
