we played brilliant football mate, we just need an out and out striker (SAHA) to put the ball in the net!!!!

Dominated the game, failed to score yet again. 1 goal in 3 games makes for a shocking comparison compared to last season.
Normally, I'm quick to start worrying but there's something which keeps telling me we will get to the top of the league sooner or later.
Positives from this game is Hargreaves and Nani looked good, Tevez just seems a yard off the pace and obviously has been rushed back into the fray due to Rooney's injury. And, I loved seeing Frazier Campbell come on..one of the youngsters that has really impressed me.
It could've been so much worse with a Chelsea win but fortunately they drew, we need to go on a tremendous winning streak now and not drop too many points because we've had our blip early on nevertheless.
Let's kick start our season with a win over Tottenham at Old Trafford!
C'mon Reds!!!

I'm finding i can't be angry at the lads for putting in performances like that, they haven't put a foot wrong really, just the final shot. That Spurs game is gonna be one extremely interesting game, whereas our first 3 opponents have struggled to get 5 shots on goal collectively, they will come to OT to have a go. No teams actually had a go at us yet, should allow some counter attacking and more open football. Not to mention Spurs shabby defence.

We played better than Shiteh today and didnt deserve to lose. We missed the pace that Rooney & Ronaldo bring to the game & it didnt help that Tevez isn't fully fit. I must say I was disappointed in Vidic not closing down Giovanni which led to the goal but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hargreaves & Nani had a good game but I agree with you all who said we're missing Saha (& also Ole Supersub Solskjaer).
It's depressing seeing Shiteh top of the league (pains me to say that) and defo unfamiliar territory for us to be near the bottom, but once we start finding the back of the net it will all fall into place & we will be back where we belong.

We dominated, and i'm gutted we didn't win, but i'd rather us lose then get a draw. We draw and we have salvaged a point and then the players feel they should of won but at least didn't lose. With a loss, the players will get a much needed kick up the arse as in the 02/03 season when we lost 3-1 to City. We'll pick ourselves up, we normally make it hard for ourselves and often come thorugh it. Hopefully Tevez will be fit for the next match.
The problem with the City match, imo, was the midfield. We tried putting Carrick, Scholes and Hargreaves in midfield. I don't think they gelled as fast as we would of liked them too and playing three central midfielders opposed to a 4-4-2. Obviously we don't have an out and out striker though but i would of played Evra and Nani on the wings with O'Shea at left back and Giggs up front with Tevez (not an out and out striker but neither is Rooney and playing Rooney and Giggs up front has proven it can work).

definately dissapointing to come away with the loss, but I thought the overall level of play was solid. A nice into for Hargreaves who looks as if he's going be an absolute rock in midfield! Still, this is United and we need to start taking 3 points from games. No point in controlling the entire thing if we not going to get the ball in the back of the net. PLEASE PLEASE PLAEASE can we get Saha fit again.....we desperately need an out & out striker. C'mon lads! Three points from spurs on the weekend!

Really frustrating opening week, I was really looking forward to it but it hasnt been what I expected.
We played very well against an immensely poor City side, we should have won. I was like watching Arsenal last season.
Still got faith in the side, they are bound to start winning, hopefully soon.

Its just really frustrating. They have clearly been the better side in all three games, no one has really played badly, the defense cant be blamed for this, we are creating chances but we just dont have the one factor that is soo important... luck.
Geovannis goal today was lucky but for Man City. Tevez missing two amazing chances luck but again for Man City.
Theres really not much they can do but keep pushing along and hopefully things will change for the better sooner rather than later.

Owen Hargreaves says stepping out at Eastlands on Sunday for his United debut marked the biggest moment of his career.
A bout of tendinitis in his knees had delayed the 26-year-old's competitive Reds' bow much to his obvious frustration.
But he was deemed fit enough to start the derby and produced an impressive performance, despite it turning out to be a hugely disappointing day for the Reds as City snatched an undeserved 1-0 victory.
Hargreaves thoroughly enjoyed his first United run-out and is confident the team can turns things around after suffering their worst start for 15 years.
"To make my United debut in a Manchester derby was the biggest moment of my career so far," admitted Hargreaves. "But I was disappointed not to win. I was hoping we could obviously with his being my first game. I am sure there will be more wins in the future.
"We need to score goals. The most important thing is to have those chances. We have made them but not utilised them. We could have scored one or two and they are things we have got to work on.
"We are missing Ronny [Cristiano Ronaldo] and Wazza [Wayne Rooney] and they are key players. We are going to miss those players at any time but we still had enough on the pitch to win the game.
"We still had a great team out there and we were comfortable. It is a shame that we only have two points from three matches because in those games we have pretty much dominated possession and could easily have won all three.
"We need to understand that we have played relatively well. We've played all this attractive football but not won games. We will get there. But we need to win games. That is the most important thing."
Geovanni struck the decisive blow just after the half hour after United had dominated the early exchanges. That pattern continued after the restart but a combination of poor finishing and solid defending from City ensured the blue half of Manchester were celebrating at the final whistle.
"We expected a lot more going into the game. When you look at the flow of the game we were completely in control and could have easily been in front early," insisted Hargreaves.
"We conceded at a time when they weren't threatening at all. It was a bit of a shock.
"City did the job of defending relatively well but we still had enough chances to definitely win the game."

I like Hargreaves' attitude. He understands the situation and gave a brilliant explanation of what is to be repaired. I also saw that on the pitch he is very talkative and organizes the people around him very often: A sign of a very good player.

Hi all, I just wanted to give my thoughts on Owen's debut. I was truly impressed.I found that he was one positive in a horribly dissappointing day. His hustle and movement around the pitch was first class. He played that anchor role to perfection and although at times his passing was limited it too was first class...but it was his defence that shone for me. His ability to back track at speed and crowd out players, along with his intensity and commitment to the tackles showed why he is so highly regarded. i remember thinking to myself "does he ever stop running?" I was so happy to see him perform so well and im sure there are a few of you who agree with me.

Been away with work so unable to contribute until now. We deserved to win and I just knew it wasn't going to be our day when we missed a couple of sitters.
Anyway, is there any chance that lazy-arsed bastard of a striker of ours, one Mr Saha, is gonna be fit for this week-end? (if not, he should donate his salary to underpriveleged kids or something, and stop taking to piss! #furious# )
PS Can you tell I'm not a Saha fan?
