True. Roma are the (second) best team in the group and it was always gonna be difficult. A win in any of the games against Dynamo and we are just about there. A win in both and we'll see the rest in the quarters.
Man of the match? Id say its out of Vidic, Rio, Nani and probably Michael Carrick. Im gonna say Rio. The tackle at the end was great.

First of all: Wooohooo!!! ;D Where's your revenge now, Totti? He, he! Rooney - great goal, well done, but what's with all the wrong passes? Nani - great job! This lad has a bright future at United Rio and Vidic - excellent job, Totti didn't stand a chance Kuszcak - solid job, a decent replacement for VDS Ronnie's offside goal - out of this world!!! Such a shame it was offside And last of all: Vucinic - Grrrrrrrrrr!!!! #redcard# for boxing Ronnie!!!

I'm officially fed up of 1-0's
Those Roma chances late on were way too close #shakehead#
Thought Rio was outstanding, one of his better performances for United, just happens to come when he has the captains armband! Ahem. He should've been the captain from the first game this season until Nev's back for me
Anderson's cameo was pretty good, nice running off the defenders, only real negative was O'Shea's poor defending. Probably Kuszczak's best performance for United as well, top game ;D
Rooney and Tevez also gave a solid, deep defence a hard time, which is promising for the future in Europe

Lucky to have won. One really good team move in the game got us a goal. I thought Nani and Ronaldo were our better performers, whereas Scholes and Carrick were poor. Saw a little glimpse of Anderson' potential with his run.

DAMN!! Wat a fuckin match!! Nearly killed me a couple of times...
We shud've scored more...and Roma shudn't have gotten all those chances that they did...
Vidic shud've bashed in a few Roman skulls too...
still we kept a clean sheet....and won...return leg, we score another goal ATLEAST!!

Good result for us. It was nice to see us playing really good football at times. Lots of one touch passing which is good to watch.
Roma had enough brilliant chances to equalise, but it wasn't there day. Stunning stop from Rio in the later stages.
Great finish from Rooney. Wish Ronaldo's goal wasn't offside! It was soooo sweet.

Sir Alex Ferguson says United were slightly fortunate to beat AS Roma 1-0 after the Italian side spurned a host of chances at Old Trafford.
The Reds took the lead after 70 minutes following a sublime strike from Wayne Rooney. But Roma had 16 chances throughout the match, most notably with Francesco Totti and substitute Mauro Esposito missing the target from close range.
Tomasz Kuszczak was called into action numerous occasions, and Sir Alex was pleased with the 25-year-old's display.
"He made a couple of good saves and made a good block in the second half," he said. "Roma had a few good chances and maybe we can count ourselves a little lucky."
United are yet to reach top form both domestically and in Europe this term. But the important thing is that the results keep on coming, and Sir Alex is confident the Reds will soon be back to the team's best.
"We've got the players," he told ITV Sport. "Sometimes you go through these spells [where you don't score many goals] but it won't last forever.
"Some day we're going to hit a few goals. Hopefully that will come soon. All the players are working hard and all showing a lot of experience."

Great win. Good to cameo from Anderson. Looks like he can open up any defense. Wow with Rooney, Tevez, Ronnie and Anderson and Nani all able to change a game , it looks good for Utd. Defense was a bit suspect. We missed Brown - cantbelieve I said that - Brown is much better at RB than Oshea. Would have been great to see Pique in that position.

M.E.N ratings
Kuszczak: Two fumbles in both halves had crowd's hearts in their mouths 5
O'Shea: The Irishman stepped into the right back vacancy with authority 6
Evra: Giuly was a danger man for the Italians but the Frenchman kept on top of him 6
Ferdinand: A block to stop Perrotta when Reds were a goal up was excellent 7
Vidic: Not much call for the big Serb to show his aerial strength 6
Ronaldo: One or two moments that forced Roma on to the back foot 7
Carrick: Man of match last April but didn't really get into this one 5
Scholes: Quiet Euro night from the midfielder 5
Nani: Some raw moments but took the game to the Italians, always dangerous 8
Rooney: Patience was the key after his wonderful strike ended night of frustration 7
Saha: Seen as a potential key figure for Reds in Europe but this didn't auger well 5
Subs:
Tevez (sub Saha 66): Bulldozing cameo 6
Giggs (sub Nani 79): Settled in 5
Anderson (sub Rooney 84): No great impact 5

Great win, one of the best games I've seen in Europe for a while. I echo what everyone else has already said regarding Rio. Fantastic. 1-0 again, I'd be more than happy if we only scored one goal every game, as long as we win. It's starting to get exciting knowing that we're getting into the groove and we're still not fully there yet. When we eventually be able to get into 5th gear we're going to be a joy to watch. Glory Glory Man United.
