VS Kuszack Brown - Rio - Vida - Evra Ronaldo - Hargreaves - Anderson - Giggs Tevez - Rooney prediction: united 3-0 birmingham Rooney back for Birmingham Sir Alex Ferguson will hope to have Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick back for Birmingham City's visit to Old Trafford on New Year's Day.
Both players missed the trip to east London for the 2-1 defeat to West Ham after suffering with a virus.
"Wayne and Michael should be ok, they were both suffering from a virus," Sir Alex told MUTV.
Rooney, who was ruled out on Friday with illness, and Carrick, who fell ill overnight, are both expected to be available for United's first game in 2008.
Sir Alex added: "Michael was taken ill during the night, the doctor attended to him on Saturday morning and he just couldn't perform, there was no way he could have taken part.
"Wayne was ruled out on Friday, he went down with a virus. There's little bits going down at this time of year, quite a few clubs have got it I suppose. But hopefully they'll all be ready for Tuesday."manutd.com

Rooney - Saha Prediction: 4-0 United Ronaldo (2), Rooney and Saha. The line up looks good though I'd put Tevez in place of Saha, we want the strongest players on the pitch and I wouldn't want to disrupt the chemistry the both of them have built. If we're winning then we can give Saha some playing time as I don't want him completely sidelined either, he needs more confidence building than most so a goal in this one would help. 3-0 United.

Not bothered about the score line. Just want to see a MUCH improved performance - nothing more, nothing less.

Rooney - Saha Prediction: 4-0 United Ronaldo (2), Rooney and Saha. Is VDS fit again? I could see Pique and Simpson playing with the complacency in the West Ham game Fergie might put on some of the younger players.

Brum gave us a tough game at their place, but I feel that they will suffer a backlash after our dismal performance at West Ham.
I expect a 3-1 win with Ronnie, Tevez, and Rooney getting the goals.
However, the result may depend on whether the boys' have been out partying the night before! If so, expect the 'hair-dryer' to be on full power!!

Fergie said VDS should be back for Birmingham.
Kuszczak has made some excellent saves in the time he's been in between the sticks and hasn't looked bad nevertheless I can't wait to have Eddie back in goal.

I am not really sure about all these 3-0/4-0 scorelines, we dont have a great record on New Years Day!!!
Just get the 3 points.
