Sil, you can't say that today was not about winning or losing. No matter what the occassion, 3 points were at stake. Just because it was a special occassion doesn't mean you get extra points on how you played. At the end of the day (or the season, rather), only the result matters. It might have been a shit match, but if we had won a gritty 1-0, I personally would not have minded.
Maybe the whole uniqueness of the day got to some of the players' heads. I can't confirm of course. Poor crossing, misplaced passes ... what cost us today.
Since I was born, I'd never seen City beat us at home ... until today. I'd never seen City do the double over us ... until today.
What the team has to do now is react positively. And what better way to do so than against Le Arse in the Cup?

I try to never say a player is utterly shite based on one performance. But no effort. No qualms, except from Ronaldo (1st half), Wes, and Anderson. All the others on the field were disgraceful. There is a difference between going down with all guns firing, than slagging about the pitch. I won''t even bear to look at all the pundit's columns...

This ISNT just a game to me. It's our derby, it matters to me more than any other game except against Liverfool. And even if we really we win the league, it will not be as good as last year's or any other year's because Citeh win a double over us. I think the best way is by winning the treble hehehe

I'd like to add:
Kudos for the City fans for respecting and honoring the minute of silence
It was classy of them and I'd like to thank them for it.
Nearly shed a tear watching those two sets of supporters holding all their scarves aloft

Well Miss United, I really think that it's those things that is really affecting the team on the pitch. Few years ago, we lost the league and Ferfie blamed on the tour to the Far East. But this time, when we are really on our peak, suddenly the team went for a few days to Saudi Arabia. Maybe I am wrong, and maybe you are right, but i just think it is affecting the players concentration. It gives them the idea that they can relax. And then about this week's issue, well, I dont know how to say it, but in simple words, it's the mentality problem. The player's mentality now and few weeks ago really looks different to me. They dont seem to have the concentration and desire to win. I think it's because this whole commemoration thing is blown out. It's ok to commemorate, but if the Citeh didnt want to silent, so let them. And just tell our players to pay the Citeh back by winning the game, and not by asking Citeh to shut up again and again. It makes the 'silence' thing look bigger than winning the game. And that's what happened. So my opinion is, SAF, with all due respect, lost the concentration, hence the players. Cant say I disagree much on that

None of us should worry because our "world class players" will get together, get another party on the go, get a few whores from the length and breadth of England and then swall to their achievements to date! Fuck i wished some of the players wer in front of me right now, though i wouldnt be held accountable for my actions!

The minute's silence was beautiful.
But as for the performance, it was utterly fucking abysmal. Wes Brown was next to useless, Ronaldo was totally ineffectual and the only players on the entire field who looked like they gave a flying fuck in a high wind were Anderson and Tevez.
They'd better pull their fucking fingers out if we're going to retain this title.

And whoever said Anderson and Brown were OK today, they wasnt Tevez and Carrick were. The rest were pure fucking shite. We begun first 15 odd minutes with some nice moves and almost went ahead a few times but then City got back into it and we all couldnt be arsed.
When I say this is a horrible way to remember the Babes, it isn't because it wasnt amazing football, as not even The Babes could do that every game, it was the lack of effort from the lads. It was terible to say the least!

Disgraceful performance; total lack of effort. They should be ashamed.

Nani really pissed me off today and so did Brown with thay flick.

Oh and the silence was really good, good of the city fans to be quiet and was nice of our fans to applaud them.
I cried lol

Anyone else thinks Wes Brown has looked completely off his game and been performing like shit ever since his whole contract issue came up ?

A bad day at the office; the defence was very poor, Nani & Ronaldo ineffective, and Tevez chasing pavements. Far too many long balls pumped up to (4ft) Tevez for my liking. The guy had no chance against Richards and Dunn.
I think Sky stated that Utd have lost all their games when Rooney was not playing. Interesting and worrying statistic that one.
Easy to blame the occasion, pitch, or midweek friendlies. However, Citeh were subjected to the same factors. I think they outplayed us at times, and could have easily scored further goals.
Very flat at the moment and I expect Utd to be 5 points behind the Arse come Tuesday morning. We cannot afford any more displays/results like the one today if we wish to retain our title.

What an anti climax eh.
This should have been our day, but today was a performance were those babes would not felt proud on. Gutless, out of clues and out of tactics. City 100% deserved that win today. We didn't even deserve a point. Last week we were lucky to come away with a draw, but today we got our just deserves. Our defence was a joke, the attackers ran out of ideas after 5 minutes and we couldn't even string a decent final ball. No decent shots, minus the goal, and a performance that the fans didnt deserve. They just couldn't be bothered by the looks of things, and if you can't be up for a derby game, on the 50th anniverary of Munich, then its hard to be up for anything. I must admit, for the first time this season, I have a horrible thought in my head that we are not lifting the Premiership trophy at the end of this term.
I can't pick one player out today who played well. Its usually easy to say Rio or Vidic played well, but today was there worst performances for a long time. Ronaldo was ineffective, Nani was just terrible, Tevez battled but his finishing was shocking. If I was at gun point and I had to pick our best player, it would go to Giggsy. No excuses today too. We just need to be gratious in defeat today and say that City deserved the win. No tiredness bullshit, just a wank performance.
Still, we have to pick ourselves up. We have a tough tie in the cup next week and there is still some way to go in the season. Whenever City beat us (rarely), we do seem to usually go on a winning streak, and thankfully Rooney will be back. Please Wayne, never get suspended again.
