Anyone else thinking 'shit, we lost, but at least we didn't go to a replay?'
Im annoyed we lost, but these days happen. Thats the cup for you. We battered them, but combined with our finishing and Pompeys defending, it wasn't to be. The treble is something that won't be done again for many years, so although it hurts now, we should alll just relax a little and look forward to going back to winning ways in the league.

Ive been able to see only the first half (which honestly i didn't liked it i think we lost too many balls and missed few chances too) Now i had to go so i couldn't see the 2nd Half!!! Now can anyone tell me how the hell we lost against Pompey?

1 - I can't stand hearing the word "Treble" everytime we reach the quater finals of the f.a.cup and the last 16 of the champions league. It happened once, it was unbelievable YES...but football has changed a lot since then.
2 - Our finishing needs to be taken into consideration, simply because it seems like our players seem to overplay at times. ( Evra, Rooney and Tevez all had chances where they should have scored easily ).
3 - Ronaldo tracked back once during the game, which was great, but so many other times i could see him not looking bothered ( sometimes i feel all the compliments and awards get to his head ) and trying too many tricks at the wrong time. Sometimes a simple pass would do the trick.
4 - Well done Pompey for defending for their lives.
5 - Saha should leave.
6 - Thank fuck this isn't the league. WE'LL NEVER DIE !

I could talk all day about the referee but facts are facts, it should never have been an issue. The lack of clinicalness and disregard for taking your chances is what killed us. I turned the game on at 56 mins and we had about 6 chances in 10 minutes. It was unfortunate rooney and anderson don't understand defending and leaving a striker unmarked on goal. The treble is finally put to bed and thank fuck to be honest because I am sick of hearing about it form tv and supporters. We now have more time to prepare for CL and prem games, I am dissappointed we are out but it just was never going to happen today with that finishing, I guess the only positive is you don't have to worry about ACS anymore.

We all have our dreams ya know! we all know its an uphill task to win the treble but we all dream of it happening again, this is a forum, where people can express their views freely! If someone thinks that we are gunna win the treble at the start of march let them think that, that is someones opinion. And secondly how can you think that the awards get to ronaldos head when he chips in with 30 goals this season?

Well f*ck me Sheila sideways, how did we lose that?! I obviously haven't seen the replays on Ronaldo and Evra but they looked like fairly good shouts for a pen (but maybe somebody could put me straight on those?) Wearing my ref's hat I'd have to say that Evra's wasn't a penalty but Ron's definitely was. Shoulder to shoulder challenges are legal (sometimes you wouldn't know it though as they often incorrectly result in free kicks) but only when the ball is at feet and it's fifty:fifty and only shoulders are used (no elbows, dipping shoulder into chest, etc). Ron had let the ball run ahead of him and wasn't therefore in possession to be shouldered off! Gotta feel for Kus. He's the last person I'll blame though Another bad refereeing call, he wasn't the last man by a mile and shouldn't have been sent off. Personally, I think a yellow would have sufficed. Of all the competitions, I'm glad it's this one we lost in. I'd be beside myself if this match was the league! With you there Scott, I went to bed consoling myself that it was "only the FA Cup" (coping mechanism!)

Just got home and had a good 4 hours to think about that game. What absolute shite we saw today! I was just stood there after full time with hardly anyone else around me. The bastard stewards had closed a few of the block entrance shutters so had to use adjacant block entrance! Was really depressing watching the Pompey fans jumping up and down whilst singing the Wembley song

ok so we lost one FA cup match - it would be a lot worse if scousers, chelski or gooners were still in it. We're still on for the double that we really want, mainly the champions league. And after we batter derby, I'm sure we'll all feel a lot better

mad ref and crap finishing did us in today. im bitterly disappointed, so i won't say too much for fear of going into an all out rant like fergie did, but i hope the boys pick themselves up for the next game, as i'm sure they will.

I can't believe some WUMs on Redcafe and 606 are defending this useless cunt of a referee. If he gave a correct decision, the games could have been different. But anyway, we had a bucket full of chances and didn't put it away. We need to send all these chances in a video to Rossi, Hunter, Berba, etc to convince them to come. I'm sorry Saha, I've been your most steadfast defender here, but this is the straw. We have 2 cups to fight for, the most important ones. SAF needs to sort this team out and shake them up, especially Rooney, he needs to wake up.

i dont care how many people slaughter me, its all about opinions but people as much as we love wayne, he really needs to pick up, i mean suspensions or injury the guy misses too many easy chances but bangs in some difficult one, lets get this straight his job is to put the ball in the back of the net, this issue is highlighted cos of his misses and fergie. fergie cos as good as tevez is really what we needed what a mobile target man, no excueses, there are only so many teams u can pass around, just ask barcelona, fact is rossi and tevez do the same job, why did we sell him and get tevez, i dont like to questioning the boss and fine the referee was a joke but like harry said its all about taking your chances, we cannot rely on the refs we need to do the job ourselves. sometimes you need a man who will make full use of the wing play of nani and ronaldo when they whip quality balls in the box, as much as i have tried to see it wayne is better outside the box, the sad truth is so is tevez, his best work for the hammers (the reason we got him) was he was so deadly on the free role, its not too late what fergie has too do is get someone in the summer and play tev, roon and ron behind a target man, whoever that is, is fergies choice but we need someone. saha saha, his story is too long now and boy should he just go, mr glass is too goo a name, as even glass wont break without getting a knock. we have alot to play for this season but i am disappointed.

I totally agree with scott that its just the fa cup.I really give a damn about it.When the score was at 0-0,i was dreading the prospect of a replay cause an extra fixture would make it more difficult for us in the league.Atleast now we have a couple of less fixtures which can only be good for the players. The league and the championsleague are the only tournaments that matter.I really give a fuck about the fa cup.

Whilst watching this game yesterday, I had a feeling that we were going to get beat; this wasn't helped with the biased Sky commentator stating that Pompey's name was on the Cup every time we missed an opportunity or had an element of bad luck - the penalty that wasn't, the Tevez, Rooney, Carrick, and Evra misses.
However. my sombre mood is slightly lifted by the fact that Chavski got beat by the mighty Barnsley!
If you are a fan of the FA cup, then it must be viewed as a great day for football that none of the Big Four are in the semi-finals? There is now every chance that Barnsley or Bristol Rovers could win the FA Cup!
I'm obviously disappointed that we are out of the FA Cup, but the real goal for our team is retain the Premiership and at least get to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
I will close by saying "why the hell didn't we buy Torres!?!".

Let him enjoy his annual quest to finish 4th for the next 10 years.
