What do you think will happen in the transfer market? From a realistic point of view and not who you want to see signed or depart, but who do you think United will end up signing?... Last summer and the winter transfer windows, I never in a million years would of predicted the signings of VDS, Sparky II & Vida...and they have been 3 top class signings by Fergie. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay, but in all honesty if the AC Milan rumours are true he will depart Manchester United this summer, as a Red legend though it must be added. I could see this happening in the transfer, although it looks far from it at the moment.
PLAYERS OUT/MONEY IN: Ruud van Nistelrooy - £5m + Gattuso? Budget - £25m John Obi Mikel deal with Chelsea - £10m Mikael Silvestre - P/Ex or £3m TOTAL FUNDS - £43m
PLAYERS IN/MONEY OUT - Mahamadou Diarra - £18m Genaro Gattuso - P/Ex Franck Ribery - £8m Fernando Torres - £14m TOTAL OUT - £40m
I think this would leave United in a very strong position for the start of the season, although the loss of Ruud van Nistelrooy could prove massive. Diarra, Gattuso & Ribery are what United need in the midfield, and Torres is a young, talented striker who alongside Rooney, Saha & Rossi could form a potent strike force. I know these deals look far off at the moment, and I would be more than happy to see Ruud van Nistelrooy remain at Old Trafford but I believe these deals could easily be funded and are exactly what United need.

I think thats very possible but I think he will gofor Riquelme or Mascherano (or both) instead of Diarra. I dont think he will pay £18m for Diarra after seeing Essien, who was rated higher than Diarra.
Also I'm not too sure about Torres, because he is not a proven goalscorer, which is what we need, and also if we bring Torres to the club then it will ruin Rossi's chance of breaking into the first team. I think he will go for Ronaldo of Real, because he has been a long time admirer of his and he wants to leave Real so he would be cheap. He will also be fit after the World Cup and is probably the best finisher in the world. He would good for 2-3 seasons and after that Rossi could break into the team and take over.

what about Tevez? or Toni

Tevez - over priced. Toni - one season wonder?..(yet to see)
And, I always thought Diarra looked better than Essien. Because Essien was getting the goals and so on he was more in the limelight but Diarra was always in the background doing the 'dirty' work as Juninho and Essien got the plaudits.

I reckon we will probably get Diarra plus maybe one more big target then possibly a few smaller for around £5 mill.

I reckon we will probably get Diarra plus maybe one more big target then possibly a few smaller for around £5 mill. I agree. Fergie knows that we can't afford to go another season with a midfield like we had this year. We need a big player in CM who will need to be bought in. Jones won't be ready for another couple of years, and we need some stability in there. Personally, I think Diarra would fit the bill, and I think we'll get him for £15-18m Ruud will need to be replaced as well. A front three of Rooney, Saha and Rossi is one man short in numbers, to say nothing of experience. I can see us spending around £5-10m there. I also think we need another wide player. Ronaldo goes missing too often, Giggs will start showing his age this year, Park just isn't a 1st eleven player, and Ole won't be back. I'd like to see another £5-10m spent there. So, that's around £35m - the £10m from Chelsea, £10m for Ruud, and £15m from the Glazers. I'd like to see a punt on another young English midfielder midfielder as well - take a chance on a £5m player somewhere.

I agree with you surfersdocharlie I think that is what SAF will do. Hopefully the winger he signs will be Ribery as he seems like the perfect replacement for Giggs. As for the front line, I'm not sure he will get another striker, I think he will just stick with the three (Rooney, Rossi, Saha) and probably use Smith or Ronaldo up front if necessary.
I think we would be better off just getting 3 midfielders: 2 CM - one world class and one a young english prospect (Carrick or Reo Coker). 1 winger - hopefully Ribery.

here's who id like to see brought in; mascherano ribery sauzo or van huntelaar
i think these would give us a sqaud more than capable of winning the league providing they all gel. think they are all realistic targets that wouldnt break the bank, possibly if we are goin to bring in a young prospect for midfield domestic prospect id like to see stevie davis from villa think he's class and wouldnt be too expensive either.

Have u ever seen Suazo play? He's ok, middle of the road at best, he's like Saha only slower, we don't need another player like that

Apparently Alex is cutting short his Holiday, to go and spy on Riquelme. VR want £15 million, but Alex believes we can get him for around £10 million. The more I hear about him coming, the more I seem to be getting excited about it.

I just hope that United don't let players like Riquelme slip through their fingers in their endlesss quest for "bargains". Sure, we cant (yet) match Chelsea's approach, but we NEED 2 players even if Ruud stays, so lets come in with good offers and generous wages, and get the signatures. Otherwise, were just standing still whilst our domestic and European competitors strengthen significantly.
