After watching Riquelme play tonight I have no doubt that he would do wonders for the club. The only problem is accomodating him as he doesn't seen to run much but with that awesome killer pass he is definitely a player we could use.
This would be my ideal formation next season:
-----------------------VDS------------------------------
Neville------Rio---------Vidic/Brown----Heinze
-------Carick----------Diarra/Mascherano-------
Ronaldo-----------Riquelme--------Rooney-----
---------------------Striker------------------------------
Where the striker would be either Ruud, Saha, Torres or Brazilian Ronaldo.
This formtion with the 2 defensive midfielders would essentially give the front four quite a lot of freedom and a sort of free role. And if these 4 do gel well together imagine the damage they could cause as any of them can score and set up plenty of goals.
What does everyone think?

Off the top mf my head, probably hopeless.
-----------------------VDS------------------------------
Neville------Rio---------Vidic/Brown----Heinze
--------------Diarra/Mascherano-------------
Ronaldo----Riquelme------Ribery/park/whoever
--------------------Rooney--------------------------
---------------------Striker------------------------------
Maybe Rooney playing just behind the striker? I dunno im no good at this tactical stuff, I hope Fergie and the coaching staff have ideas of what system they want to play and bring in the players to make it work.

Roonaldos team looks just like what id like, only problem would be our squad depth, ho would we rotate our 2 defence mids with? Also wont have enough backup should there be a crisis, but whatever happens this season we wont, that will be what kills us next season, if we have injury worries. However the first teams brilliant, i think getting the fat roandlo would be perfect, hes still one of the best strikers in the world and i think hed be much much happier at Utd hence playing better, also i think he has that fear factor, hes getting fit so will be quick, has a mean eye for goal, isnt as lazy as Ruus(though im a huge ruud fan) think him and Rooney would link brilliantly, with Carrick and Masch in defence mid allowing all our attacking players the freedom they need, PHWOAR,
Ronaldo-----------Riquelme--------Rooney-----
---------------------Ronaldo------------------------------
Prems defences would be scared shiteless, especially as if they get back the ball etc etc they have carrick and mascherano awaiting to deball them and spray it back up to the front 3. Lets just hope eh?

i think its time to start using scholes deeper with carrick? then let ronaldo, rooney, riquelme, giggs, park etc go forward in a mixture of a attacking 3-1 formation.

that is possibly a treble winning team that would be my first team in exactly the same formation roonaldo. as someone rightly pointed out these guys i'm worried about injuries but looking at it defensively were sorted, midfield iffy, o'shea etc but up front and attacking sorted, giggs, scholes, saha, smith

Thats what Argentina do with Mascherano and Gattuso, and they can compete with the worlds best midfields, so we will be able to as well.
