Bellion was a striker and Smith a striker. So, to say they have been midfield signings is bullshit.

still good money wasted on them, if your talking positions Bellion was signed as a wide man and the last time i looked smith was playing in midfield whether he was signed as one dosent come into it, you could include veron but personally i didnt think he was as bad as people made out ,it was more that we didnt use him right . All i am saying is if we are wasting money i would rather persist with the youngsters, I cannot see what carrick will give us more than fletcher does, that is the level i put him at, you have to remeber fletcher plays for us and has to play well every game as the opposition are pumped up, carrick has a few good games on the tele and he is a world beater, HE WILL NOT IMPROVE US!

The spurs fans are the only ones telling the truth, he is Average, 15 mill for utter crap, i cant believe it, I have watched players like vogel, mascarano, van bommel, i could go on and on who leave him standing, I think you really are kidding yourselves, we are man utd and its world class players we need, all our best signings like ruud rooney ferdinand hienze ronaldo van der sar are recognised quality, this player isn't and i am sorry just cause fergie thinks he is dosent make it right, his recent history with midfielders is shocking, not just bad, he has wasted millions on tossers like djemba, kleberson bellion miller smith. I cant tell you how pissed off i am about this, I was looking forward to seeing some quality in the midfield it looks as though poor scholesy will have to play with another tosser alongside him, someone not fit to lace his boots Alan Smith a tosser - behave yourself ! This is not a site for jilted Leeds scum!

Carrick is quality and he's on his way to Manchester #yahoo#
Spuds are gutted and rightly so cos he got them where they finished last season.
Carrick and Riqueleme #worship#

Carrick and Riqueleme #worship# Agreed and i'll use a rough quote from Jol to back it up,' Carrick is our best player and we need him to carry on progressing.' Any Spurs fans criticising him for leaving if he does so simply do it because they wish he would stay.

Anyone else think this doesnt add up:
15 mill - Carrick 25 mill - Torres 8-10 mill - Riquelme
thats coming up for 50 million and i cant see just that making us win the prem etc again, Carrick is decent, young etc, but cant rely on just him to win us the prem etc cos he would be the only change to our defence mid problem, Riquelem would be good but he isnt getting younger i would like a few young players signed, the future....
Torres would be great but dont thik 25 mill would be worthwhile unless he has a scorcher of a world cup

With the sale of Ruud that figure would be more like £10-15 mill on top, but who knows if it is true the price could be still be different. Funny how it all pops up on the day hes starting for Spain, give us a chance to get a glimpse of him. I know some reports mention Ruud staying but I can't see it myself if Torres comes in, we would have spending thats rivals Chelseas warchest

Please don't make me laugh saying carrick is a defensive midfielder, he can't tackle his way out of a wet paper bag, if we sign him you can forget about riquelme coming here, the pair together would offer no protection to the back four.

Carrick is one of the most over-rated players in the league; a £6 million player @ best. Why pay £15 million for him when £20 million would get Diarra, who is a far superior player in every aspect of the game. Carrick is a good passer of the ball but nothing else; he doesn't tackle, doesn't score goals, doesn't do anything apart from play nice passes. We need a player (2 or 3 actually) of more substance who can do several jobs in the midfield. Diarra & Reo-Coker for a combined £30 million (ish) would be great.

Diarra has had one good season at Lyon, the same Essien had, he's had a few very good european appearances, is that enough for 20 millions worth nowadays?

Diarra has had one good season at Lyon, the same Essien had, he's had a few very good european appearances, is that enough for 20 millions worth nowadays? He's had 2-3 very impressive seasons, both domestically & in Europe. He's a far better player than Michael Carrick (& better than Essien) in every aspect & he's about the same age. So if Michael Carrick is going to cost us £15 million then the answer to your question is - Yes.

2-3 good seasons? Really unsure about that, i've heard very little about him until this year and maybe i can't judge having seen little of him domestically, this is the first season he seems to have made such an impact.

I think United have got more money than people are making out!...I see one big spending summer then gradual spending over the next few summers...
This summer: £40-50m Following 3/4 Summers: £15-25m
Excluding money from sales.
