fair enough he has said that in the past and yes he did commit himself to the club til 2010 and dont get me wrong if i had it my way he would come out tommorow and say the whole real thing is a load of bo***cks and that he will be a man u player for many more seasons but the impression i got from tonight and considering recent speculation and comments i get a strong feeling that he has a desire to play for madrid that is stronger than his desire to play for utd and become that legend he spoke of

It would seem that he's made comments after the game where he has confirmed his interest in Madrid and further stated that he will decide his future after the competition.
Now it could be that i'm being sensitive and delicate but this doesn't suggest loyalty to United nor the kind of attitude that you would want from a player supposedly committed to the cause.

'I don't want to leave. I said I like Real Madrid, I didn't say I want to leave,' said Ronaldo, who fired in the decisive goal in the penalty shootout, which decided the match after the sides failed to score in 120 minutes of football. Ronaldo's comments follow a report in the Spanish newspaper Marca that he had been looking into negotiating a move to Real, if Spain's former finance minister, Juan Miguel Villar Mir, wins the club's presidential election. But it is Ronaldo's coolness when taking his spot kick that made the news in Gelsenkirchen. England's Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher all had their efforts saved by Ricardo while Petit and Hugo Viana missed for Portugal. 'I felt very confident. It was a great decision,' said the United winger, who was a major doubt for the game after having to be substituted with a thigh strain the victory over the Netherlands in the previous round. 'The first half I felt really good. In the second half I felt very tired because I stopped training for nearly a week (after the injury).'

Alternatively- "However, Ronaldo has now shocked his employers after conceding that he is keen on a switch to Los Merengues. "Yes, they are true," he said when quizzed on the reports, adding later: "After the World Cup, I decide my life." What's to decide after signing a new deal not so long ago?

What's to decide after signing a new deal not so long ago? My sentiments exactly, unless he's just a master of suspense and wants to keep us tuning in to every press conference... I'm rarely one who reads into things nor do I have anything against Ronaldo, but something just seemed odd especially after I heard that he would discuss his future after the WC. If his contract were up for renewal fine, but something seems amiss.

I've actually seen the post match interview at no time does he say he's off or considering it, he in fact says the opposite as Scott posted that he is saying.
I think BSKYB are starting to fabricate stories about United...

Just fuckin get off the kids' back...shit happens in football and we're going to have enough of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds, Citeh, etc fans getting on Waynes and Cristiano's back the worst thing we can do is get on it too...we should stand by the 'til the end...!!! God man! At the end of the day, it pissed me off 2, but he was doing anything he could to progress, OK t was dirty etc but still, he had to set aside tema loyalties, he was with his county and his loyalty that nyt, ws with them not Rooney, nor the England fans, if Roone had done it to him we would be applauding if we got through lets face it....lets not be hypocrites lads, heres to a good 2006/07 campaign ye?

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/5138166.stmA little more information from the BBC about Villar Mir making the claims, here's a little focused on him for those reluctant to read the whole thing: 'Villar Mir is a 74-year-old lawyer who was Spain's finance minister from 1975-76 and Madrid's vice president in the 1990s. His running mate is two-time world rally champion Carlos Sainz. Voting began early on Sunday and results were expected at 2000 BST. ' You'd think a lawyer would know better than making false claims, wouldn't you?

As originally posted in "Ronaldo is a shit":
The red card would've been shown whether Ronaldo reacted or not. Let's put the boot on the other foot for a second. Had Ronaldo stamped on Steven Gerrard do you think Rooney would've just stood there & said nothing? No. He would've been the 1st to react to it. There's a lot being made about the fact that they're team mates but they were playing for their countries; they were opponents trying to progress in the World Cup, the biggest stage of all. I don't know if Ronaldo will stay or go. I wouldn't be too bothered to see him leave for a high fee as, although I feel he will become a great player 1 day, I don't know if that'll be @ United. I think he would do a fantastic job @ Madrid in the hole being left by Zidane; & with the protection creative players are given in Spain by the referees, he could flourish. But if he is to stay then we shouldn't castigate the boy; he was only doing what many of us would in the heat of the moment, in that situation. We have to get behind him, & Rooney; because what counts now is United & our difficult challenge to rise back to the top both domestically & in Europe. To do this we need to support our best players 100%. So let's do that.

I haven't stopped supporting any of the United players, and while they're in red shirts I'll continue to do that. I was just expressing what I felt about the situation and of course that's based on my concept of fair play which may be very different from what's perceived by others. I don't want Ronaldo to leave unless he wants to, but is he my favorite player? No. I'm still partial to Giggs, Scholes and Nev because they're great players and commit themselves to the cause with heart and little in the way of theatrics.

Mate, that wasn't directed @ you, just a general statement really. I agree with your comments about fair play, but it seems to be part of the game now & we have to accept that. As I said, had it been the other way around, no one would be saying anything about it. We'd all be sat in the pub celebrating getting to the Semis... He's not my favourite player either, but I was just saying that some people appear ready to disown him if he stays, & that isn't the answer if we are to achieve our goals.
