Hard to stay on one topic when it get's a little sticky huh? I was quite obviously talking about comparing talent, not titles. Gerrard, Lampard and Fabregas are without a doubt more talented than Carrick, and if we replaced Carrick with one of them, our team would be better for it (added cuntishness aside). Fabregas is a top 3 playmaker in the world today, someone who is extremely conducive to team play, so if you think he is a selfish then maybe you don't understand team play. Find me a manager who would trade Fabregas for Carrick...... You can't. Carrick may have won 3 PL titles, but do you really think we would not have won those titles with Fabregas instead of Carrick? PS David Villa has won one title in the last 4 years, the spanish cup, I'd still take him over Ibrahimovic who has won 4 league titles in the same span any day of the week..... I responded to your post so, less of the snide "Hard to stay on one topic, sticky huh!", therefore it was you who was off-topic. Off-topic, why would Sir Alex would want Gerrard when Gerrard would clearly never go to Manchester United, why would Sir Alex trade Carrick for Fabregas when the chosen club after Arsenal is Barca, why the hell would Sir Alex trade Carrick for Lampard who is going to finish his career at Stamford Bridge? Please tell me oh arrogant one. And once again you twist and turn the discussion in a new direction when the original one doesn't suit you. First I say Carrick isn't as good as x, y, z, then you say they haven't won any titles. I reiterate that I was comparing talent, and that we would have won the titles with x, y, z instead of Carrick anyway. Then you don't have an answer for that so you turn the discussion to irrelevant stuff like why would SAF trade for x, y, z, when that is not realistic, ignoring the point being made, which was obviously that Carrick isn't as talented as x, y, z and we would have won the titles with them instead of him, a point that was being supported with the theoretical scenario of them playing for us instead of him. So this was never a question of "can we realistically get x, y, z?" But I think you already knew that, but just didn't have an answer for it, so you did your normal routine, took a new meaning from my post and started a whole new discussion.

wytheshawered1973 to be honest mate i dont like living off past glory and me not mentioning carricks 3 good seasons is not a putdown to him its really cos he is at a big boy club, big boy league, he was poor for a whole season, and to be honest its more frustrating when you take into account the 3 previous seasons. i really dont think there is an argument against my post i dont see anything there that is unfair to him, and like i said a fit hargo an on form anderson and after the season carrick had for 12 million he would be off. reality is we wont get that fee and those other players are injured so carrick stays, we all get behind him. A fit Hargo will never happen considering the luck he is having, an in-form Anderson, I am still waiting after all this time to see what he has to offer apart from hitting the ball into Row Z. Also, he may have been bought for £12million, but we also bought Berbatov for £30million and after what he has offered the club, I would prefer Berbatov to go, rather than Carrick.

I have only one thing to say to you, IF YOU DON'T LIKE OR RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS WHEN THEY ARE DIFFERENT TO YOUR OWN, THEN GO TO A FORUM WHERE YOU WILL BE WELCOME. You have been told this many times by other members of this forum, and yet you are still here. I had respected other peoples opinions including your own sometimes, but when someone has an opinion of their own, you don't like it. What a surprise!!! Now, on-topic, Carrick is going to stay whether we like it or not.

I wouldn't accept £12m lets not talk about £7m....just finished watching my season dvd's of 06/07,07/08 and 08/09 and he was one of the top centre midfielders during that period....I have no doubt in my mind he will regain his confidence and get back to his best.....Not a chance Sunderland keep looking he's ours!

I just showed the progression of this conversation we have been having, and all the twisting is being done by you. Maybe you once met an icelandic man who liked to twist your words, so now you assume we all do?

My method is that of conveying a message, loud and clear, perhaps I could have used another colour which would have had the same effect. Why on earth would I want to go to Iceland?

Stop twisting and turning and answer me, where did I twist your posts? I am still waiting a response for the above question too, where I was supposed to have "twisted your words." I will clearly state my opinion once again, just in case you don't understand. 1. For 3 years Carrick was a class player who was worth £12 million. 2. Last season, he had a bad season, and we all know "form is temporary, class is permanent." 3. I believe that if Sir Alex should sell Carrick, then it should it be for more than £15million at least in the current climate, considering we bought Berbatov for a crazy £30million, when he is absolute shite. 4. In any case, there are a few on here who know that Carrick had a bad season last season, but they know all too well that he is a great player, not world-class by any stretch of the imagination, but good. Which is why I will reiterate, I would prefer to have 1 outstanding player surrounded by 10 good players, rather than have one outstanding player surrounded by 10 bags of shite i.e Liverpool and Arsenal.

Just one thing of note, when England beat Germany 2-1, can someone please remind me as to who the man of the match was. I mean, it defies logic that someone "who is absolutely rubbish and not even worth £7million", should get the man of the match award.

Ronaldo got MOTM for every group game in the world cup. So no, it does absolutely not defy logic. A MOTM award means nothing.

I just said a MOTM award means nothing, so that obviously goes for Messi just as much as Ronaldo and Carrick. You are the one who seems to think a MOTM award has some monumental meaning. So how is this a counter to my point? This is pretty much what I'm saying, MOTM awards mean nothing. And I'm quite used to the idea of Carrick staying, I don't expect him to be sold, but if we sell a midfielder he should be the prime candidate. And you trying to start a Messi debate with me in every thread is getting a bit tired btw.

And you trying to start a Messi debate with me in every thread is getting a bit tired btw. Messi is pretty over-rated to be fair. P.S. I'm trying to lighten the mood a little, Carrick I think is going nowhere, and almost 1000% not to Sunderland, so there's no real need for me to comment on the topic further.
