Van der Sar
Brown....Ferdinand...Vidic....Evra
Carrick...Anderson
Ronaldo.......Rooney..........Park
Tevez Subs: TK, O'Shea, Hargreaves, Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Saha. I agree with VB regarding Essien. But I think Carrick & Anderson together, their vision and passing could win the battle of the midfield. It's so hard to decide on what to do with Scholes, I can't imagine what Fergie is going through. I think that XI has what it takes to do a great job for 60 minutes, then bring on Hargreaves, Scholes & Giggs for the last 30, 35.

VDS
Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Hargreaves Carrick - Scholes
Ronaldo - Tevez - Rooney PIG, O'Shea, Silvestre, Pique, Anderson, Giggs, Nani
The best defense in the world, a three man midfield to stifle theirs and an attacking trio that scored 78 goals between them this season. Add to that a bench of: one of football's brightest stars that can match any midfield star; another young star, this one a winger that has the most assists for us this season; and the most decorated player ever to play for United. How do you feel about our chances now RnH?

A lot of people have been talking bout Carrick being a definite starter in this match ahead of Anderson and i can see where there coming from as Carrick has been playing some brilliant stuff over the past few months and i've gotten quite fond of him.My only worry would be that if he starts, Essien starts in midfield for chelsea, coz to be honest i can see him pummeling Carrick into the ground,I think Anderson could handle that physical battle much better than Essien, but then again carricks passing is top notch and he can open up any Defence once he gets time on the ball, but will he get time on the ball ? i dont think he will,so this is the team i'd start You'd replace one of our regular midfielders who's played consistently over recent games...and replace him with another one of our midfielders who's been getting splinters in his arse sitting on the bench, for a game of the importance of the Champions League Final? Are you for real?

Carrick and Scholes are nailed on to start this game IMO. It's a question of whether Fergie goes with another guy in there, most probably Hargreaves or maybe Fletcher, or sticks with Park in a 4-5-1. I'd go with a 3 in the centre and Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney in a fluid front 3.

Yes,because Carrick is weak, his not physically strong,Anderson is,and he had a very good game at stamford bridge he was probably our best player on that day. Why should we adjust our team to suit Chelsea? Instead of United worrying about the likes of Essien, Chelsea should be worrying about Carrick's passing range. Essien has played at right-back, so Grant could play him there again taking him out of the middle of the park. Anyway, it's likely Ferguson will start Carrick alongside Scholes, instead of opting for Anderson who's been warming his backside on the bench recently. Replacing Anderson for Carrick is daft, in my opinion.

Not really when you consider Carrick has consistently disappeared again the bigger teams,he cant pass when he hasn't got room and doesn't have the skill to make room like Anderson does.Anderson has been excellent anytime his played against the big 4 in england and has generally been good in Europe.

Carrick hasn't 'consistently disappeared' against the bigger teams, that's a ridiculous generalisation. Mate, no midfielder in world football can pass the ball if they haven't got room, what on earth are you talking about? Carrick is more or less a certainty to start alongside Scholes, because he has been involved consistently in recent games in United's midfield and has a good partnership with Scholes. Nobody's disputing Anderson's ability, but to suddenly throw him into the Champions League final from the bench and to suddenly disrupt the Carrick/Scholes midfield is madness, mate. If it isn't broke, then don't fix it.

Why is there even a doubt about carrick? He has to start. He has been one of our better players in recent games. He will start with scholes. The other mid-field spot should be taken by hargreaves as he"s got the experience for this kind of a game.Anderson on the bench for me.

Carrick starts, no discussion there. But i think Fergie will play 3 in the middle, staring with Scholes, carrick and someone else. Anderson will almost probablt be thrown in in the second half like we saw against Arsenal. I got a feeling Tevez might not start. If so then we'll have to just hold it together in the first half and let go of the leash in the second. Fergie will certainly want to finish the game in 90 minutes. I'm thinking Fletcher can do a good job and then later on throw in Hargreaves. And i can see Nani starting too.
The thing we all have to remember is that THE REFEREE ISN'T AN ENGLISH REFEREE. So all fouls and will be punished. So please don't going on about how Carrick is feather weight etc...
