I thought wazza was the one player who did well today.Paul scholes was absolutely woeful today.Giggs did well again, but,if u lack a target man u wont win these games.(unless u find another winger who scores 30 goals a season).

would berbatov made that much fucking difference people. The criticism of wayne is unjust, he was the only one willing to get on the ball, we have alot of injuries and suspensions, in any team sport its hard to play well with a few absentees but 4 or 5 first team players its going to be very hard. First game and we are already having a go at players, nothing changes does it.

If Campbell scores with that header we're 1 up after ten minutes and Newcastle fold. Instead Given saves and it's a very frustrating afternoon. We have 5 major players out before the game, who'll start to come back in the next few weeks, bar Ronaldo. But anyone that still thinks we don't need a striker must be blind after watching the Charity Shield and today. Berbatov, Santa Cruz, whoever. It shouldn't have taken this long to sort out. But it's bleeding obvious that we need more depth there. We're sorted eveywhere else.

Well ending a game you want to win with 6 defenders on the pitch tells a story of it's own.
We had the personnel on the pitch to win it if injuries were to be avoided. However, they obviously weren't and can never be 100% avoided, this is the point of a quality bench, but for the millionth time in the last 3 seasons, we're caught short on strikers.
Irreguardless of injuries, we need a couple of players. The others have improved and we've stood still. I believe we need a left winger as the option of Giggs or Nani can be improved on and a striker so Rooney isn't player out of position when Tevez gets back and so that we actually have competition for the first time since before Van Nistelrroy

Not too bad a performance considering the injuries and suspension. We have decent share of chances and we couldn't much when it mattered. After the last three games anyone who says we don't need a striker must be mad.
Oh and anyone else thinks that we should have brought on Possebon earlier instead of O'shea. As much as I like him , Johnny was pretty poor game tbh.

First game and we are already having a go at players, nothing changes does it. Maybe i am being abit harsh on wazza considering who was out today, but the fact is when these players like Ronaldo & Tevez are out, you would like to see the guy who quite possibly is going to be the mainstay of your team for the next ten years, show that extra bit of quality, that inspiration that will make the difference, yes be busts a gut, gives 100% that's why we take to him, but what sets him apart now from Alan Smith? Rooney has the X Factor about him, he has shown world class potential, we know he has that potential, but he needs to get that spring back in his step, let it come naturally to him, play with freedom, sometimes he's playing when things don't go his way like a man posessed. I have always defended Wazza whenever he has been criticised but i was disappointed today, I thought he could have stepped up to the mark, laid down a marker for the type of season he could have, but again first game of season, major injuries, i was expecting something special from Rooney today and it didnt come, not to panic! I would like to see the Wazza 04-07 step up to the plate again. P.S. folks take a chill pill with this result today, first game of the season doesnt mean shit, after the Chelsea and Liverpool games, then we can see how we are going to fair early in the season but we have had worse results thatn today on opening day, 2-1 Sheff United, 3-1 Villa, 0-0 Reading. At least we can also say a second string United took on and dominated a re-vigorated Newcastle side, that by the looks have improved a hell of alot!

Mate , I don't think he was fully fit today , and imo still did pretty well. Not at his best but he was our most creative player after Giggsy.
Oh Edit: I am talking about Rooney and not Johnny boy.
