This game has the potential to be the worse 35 quid I'll pay all season I think we'll make this one hard for ourselves. Narrow 2-1 with Rooney and Fletch getting the goals.

I reckon he might play Rooney to see if he can kick start his goal scoring.

Fergie will surely send out the reserves, although Ronaldo needs to increase his match fitness. I expect to see the Silva twins, Possebon, Nani, Anderson, Manucho, and Evans in the starting lineup. Seeing Manucho in action would be cool. Hopefully not another "coventry".

Fletcher will be captain you watch EDIT: Sir Alex Ferguson will use Tuesday’s Carling Cup third round tie with Middlesbrough to test some his returning first-team stars and blood several youngsters. But it’s not just experimental – the boss is intent on winning. Attentions turn to the Carling Cup after Sunday's valuable Premier League point against Chelsea. And Sir Alex is keen to do better than United’s exit at the hands of Coventry City at the same stage of the competition last season. "My team will involve changes,” he told United Review. "There will be a mix of youth and experience." "It's important that I give players coming back from injury some pitch time. The likes of Owen Hargreaves, Ji-sung Park, Nani, Anderson and Cristiano Ronaldo all need games and they could be involved either in the starting line-up or on the bench.” There will also be opportunities for United’s young guns, a host of rising starlets keen to cut their teeth in a competition renowned for giving youth its first chance to shine. "I also have it in mind to look to youngsters like Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson, Danny Welbeck and Rafael, though unfortunately not his twin brother Fabio, he has a shoulder injury and is having an operation. "I’m disappointed that Manucho hasn't recovered completely from a metatarsal injury, this would have been a good opportunity to look at him and Welbeck in combination. Nevertheless, my team will add up to a strong side capable of winning." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So Manucho is not playing

Kuszczak
R Da Silva - Neville - Evans - O'Shea
Ronaldo - Possebon - Anderson - Nani
Rooney - Welbeck That's the side I'd start, Rooney just because he needs a goal to get going and would be a great help alongside Welbeck. Ronnie needs a start too. That side could easily win this game too, I say 3 - 0 United. Rooney, Ronaldo, Possebon.

Manucho will play according to Phelan:
Ferguson will have a few more genuine first-teamers than usual in his side, with Anderson and Nani also needing games. England duo Gary Neville and Owen Hargreaves might be involved as well, although there is confusion over the availability of striker Manucho, who was due to make his debut.
In his programme notes, which were written last week, Sir Alex Ferguson suggested the Angolan would miss out due to a foot injury.
However, Ferguson's assistant Mike Phelan claimed Manucho would be in a 20-man squad for the cup tie.
