Fabio Capello has named his 30-man provisional squad ahead of the World Cup.
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.
Defenders: Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

seriously tho - phil neville would be better cover for johnson than carragher - hell even gaz has played better than carragher this season!! And warnock?? id rather brown. Or even jagielka. Huddlestone may have had a decent season, but could you honestly say he has the quality to help england at a crucial stage? Wright-phillips has always been over-rated imo. Parker deserves a chance i guess, especially as cover for carrick in the DM department - unless barry proves his fitness in which case parker is gone id say. Johnson? only because he is a left sided midfield. He has had an impact at city since he signed but not enough to suggest he is good enough for the national team. Up front? capello has a soft spot for heskey and crouch. Although Crouch does seem to do the biz for england. Id say bent wont make it even though id take him over Heskey - 7 goals in 57 games?? as a striker?? fooking hell - that makes Berba look good  People are pointing out his assists as a reason for his inclusion - i thought that was mainly the midfielders job tho |

yeah, thats very true! can capello swap any of the players on there now? Like if he decides that he wants to ditch all the players on that list cos they are shit can he do so, or does his 23 man squad HAVE to be made from the provisional squad?

It reckon to be dropped should be : Warnock, Upson, Huddlestone, Wright-Phillips, Heskey, Johnson & King i only picked King cos hes not reliable injury wise and i doubt Capello will drop Terry |

I can't believe he's picked Carragher. I have always thought he was shit, but even more so this year. When you watch football on tv and you see him in a slow motion reply, you have to look twice to see if its actually in real time. He is so slow. Hopefully he won't go and King will instead.
I agree with the rest minus Heskey, but I can see why he's picked.

Errrgh, Carragher, the muppet who 'quit' the England team after he got dropped from the squad for being shit. Hopefully just a filler role.
Nice to see King and Dawson in though, they could get that twat out of the team.
But apart from that, you always end witha few filler players who wont even be on the subs bench so i wont get to quizzical.

Phil + Garry Nev or Brown, one of those should have been there, He should of thrown Owen Hargreaves in maybe as well just to see him in a game because he can always throw him out need be before the 23 man squad.
Looks like any semi decent left winger will run rings around our team and we will do shit. Brilliant. The thing is we have the players to do the job but so many good players get left out, i'd throw Zamora in there over Heskey any day of the week because I think he can do the same job with more mobility and goalscoring threat. So annoying that this happens.
