Rooney for captain!!
Gutted for Rio. Hopefully this will make him realise United > England and to jack in his international career to help him prolong his club career. Doubt it tho

Before the World Cup squad was announced, I was hoping Dawson would get in, but not like this. I'm gutted for Rio. My heart goes out to him. Why couldn't Heskey have challenged Terry? Preferably in the groin area?

gutted about Rio, don't particularly want Gerrard captain either as he really shouldn't be first name on the team sheet.
Though to be fair i still had question marks over his fitness (albeit this is unrelated injury) for playing in an intensive tournament. Could be a blessing.

Haha SET. Kick him in the groin and then chop his face off. I like it. Anyway, forgot to say earlier. Now that Rio is almost certainly out, I can't help thinking Carragher is going to be the man to partner Terry. Bloody hope not. Wouldn't bloody surprise me.

Unfortunate for Rio, but could help us next season. Rio can now rest his weary body.

Gutted for him. Hope Ledly can stay fit for the tournament if not England will be in trouble.

England are in trouble, considering the way they played against Mexico and Japan. If they don't step it up they might not even get through the groups.

Got home just in time to watch the France v China match and to be honest, if our chances of winning are bad, then France have no chance. France 2-1 Costa Rica Tunisia 1-1 France France 0-1 China France have played 3 matches against teams that didn't qualify for the world cup and they won 1 match. So, let us put it this way, to only scrape past against a brilliantly organised Mexican side, or to draw against a fairly good Japanese side is hopeful. Remember, Mexico beat Italy, then they will have to play France in the world cup in their group. Add Uruguay to that and I think France has little or no chance..not that I would want Ribery to win anything.

Preferably in the groin area? I tell you, that Heskey has a great deal to answer for should we lose because of certain defensive errors. I mean, John Terry is a decent defender and it would be impossible to ask him to defend everything, but we cannot really rely on Dawson, Ledley King who can only play at least one group game and most certainly not Carragher. Might as well just use Wazza as defender, that way, they will think twice about coming towards the box.

I wouldn´t be taking these warm up results too seriously. When the tournament starts it´s more one off games and the mental side of things comes in to play a major part. I´m risking my nuts here (to make this point in an english forum) but: Germany was never the best team not even second or third when the tournaments start but they always (even though I hate it) come up with the will and determination (and a wee bit of luck) to be up there when the semis start.

You could be right, but since Eriksson lost his job as Mexico manager, the team went from "no way José", to a team that qualified for the world cup. I really do think that Mexico are far superior to the French team because they play as a team. I have followed the French team for a number of years (although I shouldn't because I am English) and to be honest, this is their worst side ever. This is due to the fact that there are certain issues within the French team i.e there are cliques like those who side with Thierry Henry, those who side with Ribery, then there is Gallas. Too many ego problems which cannot be brushed aside. Which, unfortunately could lead to our ultimate downfall in the world cup where personal rivalries are there for all to see.

That is with reference to both England and France as I cannot be seen to hate the French team because my daughters are French-born...
