If you think that the Grauniad is a bullshit paper, I'd love to hear your views on the Sun, Star and mirror :-)

What info do people have to dismiss this story? Isn't it actually fairly likely that he has in fact had a hard time in training, having just made the jump from crap 3rd div football in Portugal to United?

I must admit that it sounds as though he is having a hard time making the step-up to what is, unchartered territory for him. This is why I am equally surprised as to the amount of money that was paid for him on a whim. We could loan him out to Blackburn or even Wigan and see how he does I suppose.

Well, for one thing, I'm not making any assumptions, just saying that it isn't unlikely to be the case that a player making such a huge leap in quality will struggle to adjust at first.

Well, for one thing, I'm not making any assumptions, just saying that it isn't unlikely to be the case that a player making such a huge leap in quality will struggle to adjust at first. It is the same in all walks of life, learning new skills, new language, new culture, new way of life and living. I have been there and still doing it over here in France, and I miss England a great deal, but, I overcame the culture, language thing by blending in. This helped me to adjust to the working conditions of an office environment and hey presto, work just got easier. I think in time, if he can "integrate", then this will be a positive for him, just as it was for Ronaldo, in the sense of being cultured and being able to speak English, unlike a certain Tevez.

It could have been for any number of reasons.. Even for players like Obertan, Diouf who have played professional football, they took some time to adapt. In Bebe's case, it should be no different and common sense dictates that for a player making a step up from Div 3 to a club like United, it's going to require a great deal of effort from him which could take a full season.. Totally worthless piece of tripe..

What info do you have to make that assumption? 3rd Division of Portugal. I'm sure most of us knew there was such a thing. This is Manchester United. That enough info. Also, from what I've heard from some people I know who work catering at Carrington, the lad is well below the level they expected for a 20yr, but they're not sure if it's confidence or if he just is shite. As for speaking English, I'm sure Nani, Anderson and the Da Silva's are helping him out.

ITS THE MOST RIDICULOUS SIGNING IN MANY YEARS How come someone aged 20 with the potential to play for united playing third division in portugal hasn't gone to the usual suspects in portugal by now, e.g sporting, benfica, porto. I can't believe fergie has signed someone he hasn't seen before. You wouldn't buy a car you haven't seen before so why is fergie being so cavalier with the clubs money. 7 million euros is alot for this lad, we played close to that for hernandez
