ITS THE MOST RIDICULOUS SIGNING IN MANY YEARS How come someone aged 20 with the potential to play for united playing third division in portugal hasn't gone to the usual suspects in portugal by now, e.g sporting, benfica, porto. I can't believe fergie has signed someone he hasn't seen before. You wouldn't buy a car you haven't seen before so why is fergie being so cavalier with the clubs money. 7 million euros is alot for this lad, we played close to that for hernandez Yes, we paid that for someone who took France apart, for someone who scored against Argentina too. Fucking big mistake I feel.

I fear that this signing could be a mistake. If this goes tits up, Fergie is going to look foolish. All this shit in the papers is pathetic though. Give him a bloody chance.

Yes Johnny and guess what? When Fergie signed Hernadez a lot of people on here thought he'd lost his mind because we'd never heard of him, because he was 20 and had just started playing for Mexico, etc. Querioz has has good instincts for young Portugese players. He told Real to buy Pepe for a millon and they ignored him. They paid nearly 20 for him a couple of years later. He go Manucho wrong but it's not an exact science.
Let's all go freaking crazy and wait unti lthe guy actually plays about 20 games for the first team and then judge him.

WR, don't forget that hernandez only did that AFTER we bought him. Maybe in 2 years bebe will lead Portugal to the European cup.
Have some patience people, give the boy a chance.

"New Manchester United signing Bebe has made a positive impression at United since his shock arrival from Portugal, and merely needs to improve his fitness levels to be considered for a first-team call-up, according to boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
It had been suggested the 20-year-old had been a major disappointment since his £7million arrival from Vitoria Guimaraes and that Ferguson had made a mistake investing so much in a player he had never actually seen.
However, the Scot dismissed those "vicious" claims and insisted Bebe is on track.
"Bebe is on a programme doing endurance work because his fitness levels are not near the ones we are at," said Ferguson.
"Other than that he has done well. I know he has had a couple of vicious attacks on him for why he wasn't playing in the reserve game but he was never going to be playing on Tuesday.
"The boy did not deserve that.
"He is a young man trying to make his way in football. They didn't need to do that. It was a really bitter attack. Ability-wise he is excellent. He is a terrific finisher.
"We have been very impressed with that. It is just the fitness levels he needs to get to."

Well said Fergie. They were vicious attacks, nothing good could have come from them at all. Daniel Taylor should hang his head in shame.

And Taylor won't let it go on twitter:
Fergie says Bebe wasn't fit enough to play for #MUFC reserves in midweek, but hasn't he played six pre-season matches in Portugal?
I'd have thought he would have been fit enough for a reserves match if, say, Anderson was able to play after zero pre-season games . . about 1 hour ago via web

I don't really buy what ferguson says on this. To be honest why didn't he just keep that money and use it to help finance moves for players we really needed. Last thing we needed was a striker. Also a striker we might have to wait sometime before we actually see him.

There´s going to be more to this story I´m afraid. Never ever have a heard of a deal so quickly executed. There´s something boiling here. I´m not sure about the fact he should´ve been signed by a big club in Portugal by now. It was reported right away that he was just snapped up by Vitor Guimaraes on a free, and that he had really made an impression. He was playing on a lower level, but so was Smalling and not to mention Dion Dublin or people like that in England. Not everyone is signed to an academy when they´re young. I want to believe in him and Fergie and Carlos Q.

It is amazing how anyone can make a judgement after 2 weeks and no appearences, just hear say and twitter....reactionary era we are in -- remember, newspapers do not do journalism anymore, they are dead, we get news else where now so they have to big up hints of negativity.

Its just very odd man. I find the whole thing very odd and an unecessary signing. I personally feel we've been dupped by a scout and an agent. Gut feeling of course

Gut feeling of course I really think we need to wait, of course by reading the Guardian it appears Fergie has done a souness but I highly doubt it, how would he ever be up to speed?? This guy has played a handful of pre season games and before that was basically lower league, how can he be Manchester United fit?? I think this is certainly one we all need to hold fire on-- if any player deserves it, and any situation, it is this. Berbatov was judged immediately partly because he'd played at the top level for years, and in the premiership...what exactly has bebe done? his highest level was a charity tournament for the homeless.

why should we hold fire?? hes not messi or xavi or kaka or any other big name signing. I say we march to OT and riot!! What does fergie know about football management anyway?? EDIT: i knew i had forgotton to add something here - if any of ye have ever bothered to read early season interviews with new signings we have made in the past, you would find that they all say that fitness levels and training is more intense at United than anywhere else they have played. Ruud said it, Stam said it, Veron said it. pretty much every player that has ever experienced playing for a decent side before signing for United has said they couldnt believe the massive step up in fitness - even if they were fit before. Smalling was signed in June 2008 by Fulham - it was MAY 2009 before he made his debut....and you expect Bebe to somehow magically do it in 2 weeks. FFS

Fergie seemed pretty pissed of with the comments made by the papers.
Convenient how the two reporters whom are band from O.T press rooms are the ones who was bad mouthing the lad.
I too find it disgraceful how they are trying to unsettle a new lad.
