It's my understanding that this story about Bebe is actually all about Fergie.
I think some 'journalists' smell a rat and think that there has been some kind of bung or illegal payment made to Fergie or some United official in order to facilitate this transfer. They don't understand that he signed a pre-contract agreement in January and then moved for free in the summer. They all seem to think that United could have got him for free in the summer but chose not to, even though there was a contract in place from January.
This is why this story has legs in the journalists' eyes and why there has been so much focus on it. The problem is - as we have discussed - the facts don't add up. But that won't stop them pursuing this story until he's playing regularly for the first team and looking like the new Ronaldo.

lets face everyone we are in the LFC level of signings, sometimes you can spend 7 0r 9 mill and end up with Vidic and Evra or Kleberson!!! I mean Kleberson is world cup winner and he was fucking useless for us and I'm being kind with that assesment. Its obvious the press are trying to have a bit of fun with Bebe and lets not forget he may now he think he's billy big bollocks, after all from 3rd div to 1st div in Portugal to UTD in less than two years is going to make you think you're a bit special and he's probably been given a reality check. SAF may have bought him without seeing him but he would have plenty of scouting reports to go off (and more than we've read of in the press) and I'd be amazed if all the 7mill has been paid, it will def' be linked to appearences. Will he make it? who knows but does anyone remember the two years when even UTD fans where doubting Ronaldos ability to make a sigificant impact, with people like hansen calling him a one trick pony, this is the same kind of crap. Ronaldo played for Sporting against Manchester United so, Sir Alex had the chance to watch him play.

From now on, I will keep quiet on this and just see his progression during the next few months. Promise.

It maybe because the guy can't speak a word of fucking English ! You can't just a expect a player to come from the pits of Portuguese football and be thrown straight into the reserves ! I dont go for this story either. But why shouldnt he be ready for even 45 mins of reserve football?

I dont go for this story either. But why shouldnt he be ready for even 45 mins of reserve football? That is a fairly valid point to make. Reserve team football is for players who are not at a good level or for those who are slowly coming back from injury, so, I see no reason as to why he was left out.

I dont go for this story either. But why shouldnt he be ready for even 45 mins of reserve football? Maybe to avoid this exact scenario? If he is so far behind in fitness, and is feeling so overawed at his new circumstancesthat he hasn't been able to play his game in training, he might have come out of those 45 minutes looking like a complete dud, which would have sent the press into overdrive, and shattered his confidence. As it happens, leaving him out has had the same effect on the press, but if it was going to happen anyway, better to have it happen like this, than have him bomb in front of members of the press.

Ok he is no where near the expected fitness levels but lets throw him on so he can be slated by everyone and most likely get injured.

I was saying that we will see more low to medium sized bids for players as that is where our budget is thanks the gimps and about how people make early and unjustified judgements on players abilites, another one for you Nani

Manchester United could have signed Bebe for as little as £125,000, according to the Portuguese striker's former coach. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson snapped up the youngster in a shock £7.4million deal three weeks ago, despite having never even seen the 20-year-old play. Bebe, who arrived at Old Trafford from Portuguese Premier League club Guimaraes, has not played competitive football at a level higher than his native third division. And Jorge Paxaio, coach of the forward's former team Estrela da Amadora, claims the club offered him around Europe for just €150,000 as they urgently hunted cash to avoid a winding-up order last term. Desperate "Last season we had no money at all," Paxaio told the Daily Mail. "We were trying to transfer Bebe to other clubs. "We had to raise money desperately. We told everyone in England and in Europe: 'For 150,000 Euros you can have him'. "We couldn't get anybody interested. Nobody trusted him. None of the clubs were interested because he had never played at a high level." Bebe, who terminated his contract with Estrela and moved to Guimaraes on a free transfer in the summer, earned £12,000 a year with the third division club, the same sum he now takes at United in a week. And Paxaio admits he would never have predicted the striker's move to Old Trafford. "I was surprised with the sudden way it happened with United," he added. "I was hoping he would move to a bigger club in Portugal or a medium-sized club in Europe. "I didn't expect Manchester United. Having said this, Manchester United have signed an extraordinary player." United were only alerted to Bebe after he impressed during this year's pre-season with Guimaraes, scoring five goals in six games. The player's former agent Goncalo Rels has reiterated that Ferguson could have picked up the forward at a much lower price if he had moved to sign him earlier. Cheap "Bebe would have been very cheap during last season and then we tore up the contract because he wasn't being paid by Estrela and so then he was free," said Rels. "A scout from United could have contacted me or the club last season. There was no secret. "But I understand that the United scout just saw certain games in Portugal and only realised Bebe was a great player when he saw some pre-season games involving Guimaraes. "If they had looked wider they would have seen him earlier and paid very little. But everyone was the same."
