Newcastle get gates of 60,000 every week, they're not a big club. And Monaco got to a CL final, they're not a big club either.
Dortmund are a club who'll produce players and sell them on for big money, a bit like Villa are doing over here now.

the big club argument is pointless unless everyone agrees on the criteria of what actually makes a big club. same with the argument over who is and isn't world class. problem is opinion differs from one person to the next. you end up with one person arguing blue is blue, the next person disagrees - red is actually red, i think you'll find.
take the term 'world class' - literally applied that means any player who plays on the world stage. most peoples perception of a world class player is either the top handful of players in the world, or the top handful of players per position.
then you have good players, very good players and great players. to me personally, there are only a select few great players. there are lots of very good players

"Manchester United have switched their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Goetze"
I love how they quote themselves next to the article, that really is next level journalism!

Talk is Arsenal are planning a January bid for him circa £15mill. If we're not in for him at that price I will assume Fergie's on the greatest wind-up of all time.

With all the hype and performances I would have thought he'd be a £30mill minimum player by now. Here's hoping we're well interested, maybe made an enquiry last summer but got a firm no, as it was pretty much stated by himself as well as the club he'd be staying for another year. Be surprised to see him move at all in Jan unless its for mega money.

I would say that his transfer will depend on how Borusia cope with CL, they are currently 3rd and if the lad got good piece of CL football, I see him leaving Borusia, hopefully for us.

Van der Vaart. 8m? Me and few other friends, fans of different clubs, still cannot believe this one. He had a terrible injury record at Madrid and they wanted rid, Tottenham played the waiting game and got their man at the death. Plus I don't think VDV would've settled into our team as well as he did at Spurs.

If we had been going for any Dutchman from Real Madrid it should have been Sneijder. VD would be a luxury in our team and people would hate him for not running around a lot. Plus as tatty mentuioned, his injuries and the fact that Gullit phoned Spurs right at the end of the transfer window because Madrid were desperate. Is there any chance you could get a feeling for January/next summer from your source tatty, by the way? *Closes eyes and crosses fingers*.

General consensus at the training ground is January will be quiet, like it always is. Next summer could be the one, with the FFP coming in, we're more than well-equipped to competer transfer wise as some at the club think Chelsea and City could struggle this summer with those rules, assuming they;re properly enforced of course.
