Don't think there's a thread for this, just any films you've seen (not necessarily new) recently that you'd recommend. For me, in the last few weeks:
American Splendor North Face (Nordwand) Un Prophete Waltz with Bashir

A Prophet is quality, if you dont mind putting up with the subtitles that is.
I was a little dissapointed with Che but its alright.

Greenburg. Indie film with Ben Stiller, it's quite grim but funny.

Watched Ali for the first time yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Mohammed Ali was so much more than a boxer.

Just going to lay a few popular ones;
Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella, 1997) Schindler's List (1994) The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin non-mute film, 1940) 12 Angry Men (1957)
Apart from the first film, the rest are in black & white. Personally, these are four of the world's best films though.

You should check out some of Shane Meadows work, he's a brittish director. I love his work it can be dark and hilarious all at the same time!
Big fan.
