Selby was massively salty in his post match interview. Apparently Ronnie was disrespectful for refusing to be dragged into the kind of game Selby wants to have. Is Selby disrespectful for intentionally slowing the game down by taking 5mins to decide whether to have the balls put back when it was obvious that was the only thing he could do? Ronnie won the mental game last night against Selby, which is something you’ve never been able to say before. Absolutely did his head in. Brilliant day of snooker. Wonder if he can find a cue action today. I thought his interview was mad! What a final session that was. I really thought he had lost it, then the mid session interval, Ronnie just flicked the switch and boom. Incredible snooker.

Ronnie’s ended the first session 6-2 up but doesn’t seem to have managed to purchase a cue action overnight.

Strange snooker from Ronnie. Maybe yesterday took a lot from him.

Strange snooker from Ronnie. Maybe yesterday took a lot from him. Yesterday took a lot from both of them. Ronnie was poor in the second session and very lucky to come away only 5-4 down in it, but Wilson was dreadful in the first one as well. If one of them can sort it and play to their best, they win. But considering no one bar qualifiers have played to their best this tournament, I doubt either does. And Ronnie's natural talent probably therefore edges it, but Wilson is close enough that he could win it too. All to play for.

Hoping Ronnie is able to finish the match before United kick off! Been moving out of my house so I'm missing it. What's the score dude?

Hoping Ronnie is able to finish the match before United kick off! Been moving out of my house so I'm missing it. What's the score dude? So it was 10-7 after last night's session. Kyren takes the first frame to make it 10-8, and he's looking quite good. Then he just completely falls apart and Ronnie wins the next seven frames. So it's 17-8 right now, and Ronnie just needs one more to win it. The mad thing is Ronnie wasn't even that great. Just took most of his chances, even gave a couple away. Don't think he has a century in the match? But every time Kyren had a chance he'd pot 3 or 4 balls then fuck something up. Hendry on commentary was funny, he's not supposed to be too negative but you can tell he's disgusted by Kyren's weaknesses. Living up to his Terminator monkier even on commentary.

I really like Hendry commentating. BBC have a decent crew covering the snooker, apart from Dennis Taylor! Never took to the guy even as a player.

Dennis and Hendry are a great little partnership on commentary. Ken Doherty is the worst. Never has an Irishman possessed less craic. Not just Hendry getting frustrated at Wilson, Parrott (gobshite) and Davis in the studio have been getting stuck into him too. Particularly his positional play, which is awful. That’s a feature of the younger players too. There’s not really any great break builders amongst them. They all seem to struggle to keep control of the cueball.

That was something I was thinking about last night, Ronnie played a pot and the cue ball went around the table and finished right where he was stood. He just bent down and played his next shot without moving. I used to play quite a lot of snooker. Never happened to me 😄😄

Ronnie got a little lucky that he was playing someone in their first final, but his overall run to the final was hard, Ding, Selby and Williams are top players.
Great to see him get another, I thought he was going to be stuck on 5 the more the years went on, but he really could still equal or beat Hendry's record.

I said that when he was on five too, but this year was a one-off where lockdown meant every top player was off their game so the most naturally talented player came to the fore. But, whilst he deserves a sixth world title (he should have 8 or 9 really), he wouldn't win it with the standard he was at for most of the tournament in any other year.

20 year old kid, Yan Bingtao, wins the Masters against Higgins.
Going to be a hell of a player this lad if he keeps his progress up.

Great to see new blood win, it's been the best part of a decade since a player really came through. Barely any top players in their 20s.
Feel sorry for Higgins though. No trophies in 3 years and no Triple Crowns in a decade is mad given more or less that whole time he's still been top 5 in the world. He deserves better but you have to conclude his bottle is waning at the very least, plenty of lost finals in those time frames.
