Great first two frames and dreadfully unlucky in the third. Stupid free ball rule. Think Selby wins from here though, he's so lucky to have that half-session at 2-2, it'll be too big a boost.

That last plant tells me Ronnie is just seeing it out now, bit reckless.

That last plant tells me Ronnie is just seeing it out now, bit reckless. Yep, was ridiculous given the frame was in his hands.

I remember his 147 in just over 5 minutes all those years ago. Phenomenal talent.

My (late, beloved), father-in-law would be glued (annually) to this throughout the tournament, you couldn’t shift him. It’s the only thing that I ever saw him watch to completion, as we were generally out rough shooting with the spaniels, bless him!

43 and still one of the very best players in the world. But then again, Higgins, Williams, Robertson, Murphy, Maquire and Selby are still top players at 45, 45, 38, 38, 39 and 37.
Same question as tennis with Rafa, Roger and Novak still outstanding. Are these guys just so, freakishly, once in a lifetime good, that even in their twilight years they are on a different level to the rest, or has the standard just dropped and the younger players coming through simply not as good as the previous generations that emerged, which has allowed these old guys to continue winning?
Where are the 20 year old snooker and tennis players winning majors and being the Next Big Things? I mean Trump is outstanding but he's 30, not exactly a precocious kid.

Ronnie was asking this question last week! I think it's a bit of both. This is clearly the outstanding snooker generation by some distance, but at the same time the generation two beneath them (one beneath Trump) doesn't appear to have many bright talents.

Selby was massively salty in his post match interview. Apparently Ronnie was disrespectful for refusing to be dragged into the kind of game Selby wants to have. Is Selby disrespectful for intentionally slowing the game down by taking 5mins to decide whether to have the balls put back when it was obvious that was the only thing he could do?
Ronnie won the mental game last night against Selby, which is something you’ve never been able to say before. Absolutely did his head in. Brilliant day of snooker. Wonder if he can find a cue action today.
