Stewart Gardner on MUTV said on the Paddy Crerand show that the club say that we will not be signing Gaitan. Thread closed? #lgh_%289%29#

God no - you've seen the furore over Youngs actions - this place would meltdown with Drogba up to his usual tricks. Plus i doubt he would come here True that its rather unlikely, but he's still a superior player to those mentioned. Not the most likeable of chaps on the pitch but I still respect him. I'd tend to agree with Fletch. Not only better, but not past it and proven the the Premier League. Besides, do you all forget why Raul was binned off by Madrid? I believe he was described as "cancerous." If we are interested in an aging striker with experience, who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net, who doesn't pitch a fit if he scores 5 in one match and then sits out the next, and wouldn't cost a fee I point you in the direction of the Andy Garcia lookalike leaning against the bar exuding cool.

Benfica playmaker Nicolas Gaitan would welcome the opportunity to discuss a summer switch to Manchester United, according to his agent. Speculation linking the highly-rated 24-year-old with a move to Old Trafford is intensifying, with Sir Alex Ferguson reported to have made him a top target. United are not the only admirers of the talented Argentina international, but they are one of only a handful of sides who could afford to finance a deal. They also hold global appeal and are an attractive proposition to any player. Gaitan's representative says his client would be happy to make a move to England, allowing him to add his creative talent to United's ranks. Negotiate Ferguson is understood to be in the market for a new midfielder as he attempts to find long-term replacements for the likes of Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. He got a good look at Gaitan during the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League and will step up his efforts to bring fresh faces on board when the Premier League season comes to a close. "Nicolas likes Manchester United a lot - he would like to play for Manchester United," said Gaitan's representative Jose Ibarren. "If there is an offer for him Nicolas would be happy to listen and negotiate." www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7731563/Red-Devils-appeal-to-GaitanLooks like we have sounded them out then left them on the back-burner, back up plan?

Bit of a thread resurrection here but.....
Gaitan was left out of their latest game amongst speculation the manager has told him he can leave.
I remember reading we were almost nailed on for this lad, could be a good swap for Nani or Ando!?

Both supposedly long term United targets, same thing.
Someone might have just mixed up the spelling.

What ever happened to United's interest in this kid ? He was brilliant in the Porto league two seasons ago. Winning the Breakthrough Player of the season award, Scoring 9 goals and 10 assists in his first Season with Benfica. Last season he had 10+ assists. This guy could really help us on the left I think... My twoooo cents
