19 year old Danish attacking midfielder from the Ajax youth academy Cruyff on Eriksen "He's a player I really like with all my heart. This prize is just the beginning, a stimulus to get the maximum out of his career. The talent is there, the recognition also; now it is up to the player himself. He is a typical product of the Danish school. You can compare him with Brian and Michael Laudrup. Only time will tell if Eriksen can reach the same level as them."
Here is the list of individual accolades he won
Danish Football Player of the Year: 2011 Young Player in The Netherlands: 2011 AFC Ajax Talent of the Year: 2011 Danish U-17 Talent of the Year 2008
Of course he recently said he'd like to go to Barcelona, but i think United would be perfect for him if he can develop more physically...what do u guys think?

He'll stay for a season or two more at Ajax and then off somewhere else, I don't think he'd be coming here, I'd love him here mind you. Doesn't he play out wide though?

His best position is where Rooney plays in the hole though he also plays wide.I`m sure he could be used as a CM too, he is young enough to adapt and is very talented.

Barca bound, unfortuantely. I just have that feeling. I wish we'd just buy Afellay from Barca while we're on the topic of wasting of talent. . .

Yeah would love to see him here but almost certainly heading to Spain, if not Barca then to Real where he can sit on the bench and contemplate his career going no where. Never mind

Not sure why people are so adamant on him going to Spain, he's said he admires Barca and that's it. A hell of a lot players admire Barca who doesn't, I think Erikson would be a lot more likely than a number of our targets.

But regardless, I'm convinced he's away to Barca because Eriksen plays for Ajax, and Cryuff will tell him to go to Barca. Even though the kid will end up warming the bench beside Afellay and other young should-be superstars in the shadow of iniesta, Xavi and Messi.

What the hell, I don't get why these kids think it's some achievement to sit on the bench for a great club rather than playing an integral role for a club even more internationally recognized and with a more devout following?
The mind boggles. What a waste.

The only reason I'm 'pro-Madrid' is because it's the only way to be anti-Barca in Spain. Believe me, if another team in that League had even an outside chance of winning it, I'd want them to. Two things about the Ronaldo comment: 1. Ronaldo would never have gone there, so it's a moot point. 2. Whilst I love Ronnie and everything he is achieving over in Espana, it will never compare to his achievements with us in a genuinely competitive league. And as much as I like him, if he was at Barcelona, I'd still want Madrid to beat them. (c. f. My non-Ronaldo related point above.)

ok. i've always been pro-barca and anti-madrid, and although i'll never claim to 'support' any foreign team, i went on a sixth form trip to the nou camp and the 7 others that went all bought knock-off madrid shirts from the local shops, i was the only one sporting a barca shirt and proud of it, that's as far as my 'allegiance' would go. this was in 2000 when barca were half as strong as they are today.
i admire barcas football and their manager and it amuses me to think that madrid can spend shitloads of money on world beaters and concede a bit of control of team affairs to their manager for once and it makes no difference

They actually used pace, power, and skill to score goals rather than passing teams to boredem and defeat. 90s and early 2000s teams that had the likes of Rivaldo, Guardiola, Stoichkov, Original Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kluivert, Overmars(!) - I was a 'Barca Boy'. But then they switched to their current style of football, brought in a bunch of cheats and conmen, and hood-winked the whole footballing world. So now I want them to be shown up at every oppurtunity. Mourinho's llooks to be organising Madrid to give them a right good go this year as well. Real have been playing by far and away the more entertainign football this season in La Liga. But on topic: Eriksen. I've only seen bits and pieces, some international appearences, one Ajax game this season, and whatever highlights ESPN shows of the Eredivise. He looks a real player though. I seriously wouldn't mind seeing us go get him. I'd love for us to draw Ajax in the next round of the European Cup, one of the reasons would be to get a proper look at him.

The Red Devils have struggled to fill the gap left by Paul Scholes in midfield and, with a growing injury list, some suggest Sir Alex Ferguson will bring in reinforcements in January. Eriksen is one such player who has been linked with the club, but even though Meulensteen admitted he would fit United's transfer policy, he insists the stories are only rumours. "This is a player that is on our radar," Meulensteen told Voetbal International. "But that is to be expected. If people weren't looking, no-one would ever have an opinion on these players. "It is true that a player like Eriksen would fit our transfer policy. He is being strongly linked with us, but to suggest that we are about to make a move is not true." The 19-year-old's agent Martin Schoots has also attempted to play down the speculation. "Christian must weigh up every step he takes in his career," he said. "He gave a lot of thought to joining Ajax. Last summer he could have gone to England, and a German club was very keen, but he passed the opportunity up. "He has signed a contract at Ajax and a transfer is not an issue at the moment." ____________________ www.football365.co.za/story/0,22162,14287_7387182,00.html
