Very happy with this news. Hopefully we can get him a settled defense. It would be great to have some consistency amongst those 4 positions, it cant do him any favors chopping and changing due to having marshmallows in front of him!

As a rule IMO goalies shouldn't be captain but De Gea is clearly by far our best option now Ander's gone. |

One of my major criticisms of De Gea is his poor communication to his back line. If he fancies himself as captain he will need to be able to bark at them when needs be. He will definitely lead by example insofar as giving it 100% but could really do with him marshalling his defence more often.

Pleased about this, but given the recent club history (with its mega deals) its difficult not to worry that DDG's form of the latter part of last season continues through next season. I think that would likely tip most of us over the edge.

I'm not worried about DdG form for this year. He already has a better defence in front of him with AWB spider legging about the right

Wish his current coach would work on crossing more. |
