If we sell De Gea we need a top drawer replacement. I’m not convinced Henderson is that player, certainly not yet anyway.

Interesting.
Emilio Alvarez slams 'disloyal' David de Gea and blames goalkeeper for Manchester United exit - Manchester Evening News
"Aside from being his mentor at Atletico Madrid, where I backed him strongly, I was the person who convinced him to sign for United. I was his right-hand man in Manchester. I came to United thanks to the great work of Jorge Mendes and because Mourinho wanted to sign me to help David develop and to keep him at the club. At that moment, he wanted to leave United."
Alvarez was one of the few coaches to remain at United when Jose Mourinho left the club in December 2018 and he revealed that was at Mourinho's insistence, while De Gea also wanted his coach to stay, leading to the 48-year-old to reject advances from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Having stayed on under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the goalkeeping coach then played his part in convincing De Gea to remain at Old Trafford.
"All the merit falls at the feet of Jorge Mendes, who did massive work for a number of years, working day and night. I added my own little grain of sand," said Alvarez.
"Solskjaer asked me every day to speak with Mendes in order to get David to renew. The press was asking every day about it and there was a lot of pressure. There was pressure to speak to David so he would stay and not listen to other offers. Solskjaer was very worried."

Players do whats in there own interest and to be honest so would I. This guys a coach, if he left because of this, then hes going to spend his career leaving clubs. Loyality does not exist in football on either side of this debate. Players in the past had no power whereas now they determine there own future and everyone at the top of these clubs get all pissy about it.

Looks like Henderson will be here next year after penning a farewell post to Sheffield United.
What we thinking then? DDG or Henderson for #1?

as much as I've loved de gea over the years I think its time to cash in. hes one of the only players we have that has any worth still and can be replaced for free.
we need to invest in other areas more

Let them battle it out for a season.
De Gea to start as number one but Henderson to get games too, especially if Dave does his, now customary, "urgh, a ball!" floppy wrist thing.
If Dave gets back to his best then look to sell Henderson next summer, with a buy back clause inserted in the contract. If Dave continues to disintegrate then Henderson gets the position to himself and move Dave on next summer.

Footballers clearly head the ball too much and get brain injuries, it's the only thing I can think of for this from Stewart Robson.
Robson said: “If he’s at the club, I think you play him, because he’s proved on many, many occasions that he’s their number one goalkeeper, at one point I think he was the world’s best goalkeeper.
“If I was the Manchester United manager I might be thinking of selling him.
“If he’s at the club, I’d play him, but if I was Solskjaer, I’d look to sell him. Then start Dean Henderson in goal.
“If De Gea is there, I’d play him, because I still think he’s a top-class goalkeeper.
“If I was Solskjaer, I’d be looking to get rid of him because I think he’s past his best.”
So, to clarify, you think he's proved time and time again he is the number one, and if he's at the club then you would play him, but you also would sell him. You'd play him because you think he's top class, but you would also sell him because you think he's past his best.
What the fuck?

Became a father this morning. Best feeling in the world I dunno. Dropping something but then save-catching it in midair is pretty exhilarating.
