I just hope we don't seem him in the nets from now till the end of the season, I think a couple of months rehabilitation is needed for this kid. what does a couple of months rehabilitation mean?

with lindegaard out for 4-6 weeks this is a good opportunity for De Gea to get a run of commanding form behind him, if he knows the spot is his for the short term perhaps it will help him.
am i confident knowing he will be a regular in the side? yes. i reckon he's got the character to put his mistakes behind him. and hopefully the club will have worked on a few ideas on how to protect the goal if he's being stood on like carroll stood on him against the dippers.

It is as much Ferguson's fault as it is De Gea's. I'd have played him through the clangers.

Like, and i know this sounds abit radical, getting the defenders to maybe do their job and help him by, now this is another radical idea, actually trying to clear the ball rather than just standing there?? And then not getting any blame whatsoever when the opposition player is allowed a free header.

Guys, The fact is if we had of had Van Der Saar this season I thnk we would probably be in the cup and maybe 5 points better off in the league. However we are where we are. I will be very nervous indeed on Sunday if De Gea plays. I have absoloutley nothing aginst him personally but we cannot afford bedding in periods for players and in particular our keeper at this critical stage of the season. Chelsea will put fierce pressure on from set pieces(Even more than what the dippers did) and I am not at all confident that He can deal with this.

"When you make a mistake at United, it is highlighted and can be exaggerated a little bit,"
"They are mistakes and he wants to address it himself,"
"He will do so through maturity and the understanding of the English game."
"It is harder when you are replacing Edwin van der Sar and Peter Schmeichel. They are probably two of the greatest goalkeepers in European football over the last 40 years," he said.
"That is not easy. I found it difficult to replace them.
"That's why we went for a young replacement, who would develop and mature into the position because the potential is there."

what he's saying is no-one can fill van der sar's boots, any keeper they put between those sticks is gonna make more mistakes than edwin did, so it might as well be a young player in there making those mistakes who will learn and grow into the role and potentially be a great like VDS.

What he's saying is he realises De Gea is making balls after balls and trying to give him an excuse.
Some might say.

do u actually think ferguson fancied he wouldn't make any mistakes and would be always talked of in glowing terms by the press? no chance.
not excuses, just saying it as it is.

Fuel for the fire today. Questionable in the air, phenomenal shot stopping. Being critical, but holding the post when your at that harsh angle(sturridge goal) only limits your reflexes. That showed his lack of confidence along with that dodgy bunch in the first half.

And then not getting any blame whatsoever when the opposition player is allowed a free header. Happened again too. Sturridge past Evra like he wasn't even there for the first (unfortunate) goal. Rio letting Luiz get a yard on him so he couldn't get his head on it properly. If De Gea makes a single mistake in a game he's annihilated for a week yet the defence get off lightly if its their mistake that costs us a goal. There's no one totting up a 'points lost' tally for defenders, of which I'm reasonably sure Evra would top. Thats the problem with applying a microscope, people tend to ignore what's going on elsewhere. Really this topic doesn't offer much new. Before he even signed people made comments that a young keeper coming in from Spain would be a struggle a bit with the high balls in the English game. He can do better, but I still think people are being hyper-critical. He still hasn't done anything like dropping a easy catch and laying it off for an attacker like VDS did last year. The Agger goal was a free header (defenders to blame) and he just showed a lack of awareness in Blackburn goal. The only time I get nervous with him is when he looks like he's lacking confidence. This is ideal time for him to just get a run of games. Build that confidence up and let some teams try and bully him a bit more, it'll help him learn.

Slightly off topic but it was Evra who let Luiz get a free run that caused the third goal today. Rio was poor, yes, but Luiz seemed to be Evra's man.
