Back to De Gea, decent game last night, seemed to command his box a little better and was bollocking the back four, rightly so. He's growing into a top 'keeper slowly, but surely. didn't see the game but i'm pretty confident with de Gea in goal, good to see him grow into the role. to be honest i was sold on him when i watched him warming up in the charity shield. he hits a ball like a midfielder, i know that's not a way to judge a goalkeeper but when he shows me something of that standard i'm pretty confident that the rest of his game will measure up as well and that he'll work his bollocks off. said at the time he'd finish the season with an assist to his name and there's been a couple of occasions where he's put nani through with a big kick from the back.

Always been sold on the kid. I think he'll be the best keeper in the world in 5 years time, but at the same time, you can't ignore his mistakes and low confidence from this season, but it'll make him stronger mentally and he'll learn from those msitakes.

Another fantastic display from De Gea today, hopefully he can keep this progress up and build on this run in the first team as he's really shown the level of talent he has recently and it's exciting to think how good he can become, I hope those that doubt him will cut him a bit more slack next time he has a dodgy game or two after seeing the type of performance he's capable of putting in, our patience will be rewarded.

From watching MoTD recapping today's game against Norwich, from a "what to improve" perspective, De Gea definitely needs more confidence and strength to catch the ball mid-air from corners. His shot stopping is amazing, reflexes top notch. Just needs to work on catching the ball rather than fisting it away when among an array of players.

His save that lead to the corner that they scored from was superb.

It would be great for David to get on the same training program welbeck has haha. He does lack size and oppositions def know that, every corner the camera turns to mobbed De Gea.

Only saw the highlights of the Norwich game, they seemed to put a fair amount of emphasis on De Gea anyway, but he looked like he had a very convincing game. Some real top drawer saves in there and he just looked more confident.
Really I think this Lindegaard injury was an enormous blessing in disguise. Even if some people favour Lindegaard, I'm sure you can see the run of games has helped De Gea and he hasn't disappointed. I wasn't overly keen on the way Fergie handled it with the dropping of De Gea, sure some might say deserved but its a risky game to play. Fergie did a lot of that during our barren patch between Schmeichel and VDS, with dropping any keeper who made a mistake and usually destroying their confidence.
I think its worked out well that he was dropped that should have toughened him a bit, but then found himself first choice very closely after. I'm glad the choice was taken away from Fergie. 5 games in a row hes started, the first time since the first 5 of the season, with plenty of switching it up in between. I think a more settled defence has helped too, which in my book got overlooked a fair bit in criticisms of De Gea.

yeah he did really well against norwich with the crosses and controlling the box. but i think spurs will provide a bigger test (in terms of corners and crosses), with adebayor, king, kaboul. heres hoping the norwich game will give him the confidence to keep on producing consistant performances of that caliber

De Gea is a top shot stopper he really is. i'm still up on the mata save, just out of this world. another important one today as they just showed on the replays at 0-1.
this run of games is exactly what the doctor ordered. i heard he's lifting weights and eating a lot to bulk up.
his communication and area-savvy will come.
we've got a top keeper here lads.

That's what I was about to type. Things to improve from today's game: area communication. I think it was twice in today's game where he (almost) collided with teammates clearing the ball. Not sure if he called it or not though. Fantastic goalkeeper. Confidence does miracles.

Played really well since Anders got injured. Pleased for him. The Gaffer wants him to stick a stone in weight on and the kid has obviously been taking tips from Tony V and Rafa in the gym.
Long may it continue.

Today's Guardian:
"Sir Alex Ferguson may be the greatest manager of all time but he has never been shy when it comes to proclaiming the importance of luck. Napoleon would certainly have approved of Ferguson's generalship. The catalytic signing of Eric Cantona came about because Howard Wilkinson made an inquiry about Denis Irwin. Ferguson would have lost Roy Keane had anybody in the Blackburn office stayed late at work on a Friday evening. And the Treble-winning partnership of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke came about by chance.
Ferguson got lucky again at the start of February. David de Gea had played in only two of the previous nine games, making costly mistakes against both Blackburn and Liverpool. Then Anders Lindegaard was injured. It meant that Ferguson, who surprisingly appeared to be losing faith in De Gea, had no option but to play him. De Gea responded with the save of the season, from Juan Mata, and has been in outstanding form ever since. He earned United at least two points, maybe all three, at Norwich last weekend, and made a deceptively brilliant save from Jake Livermore's deflected shot on Sunday when the score was 1-0.
There is a perception that De Gea has cost United a lot of points this season. It doesn't really stack up. While he was culpable in their departure from the Champions League and FA Cup, he has only really cost them a single league point with that mistake against Blackburn. He is certainly in credit, having made a series of exceptional saves in matches at Stoke, Liverpool, Chelsea, Norwich and now Spurs. He has also shown admirable dignity and resilience, the sort most of us can only dream of, in the face of media bullying.
De Gea still struggles with crosses and set-pieces and certainly does not radiate security. Nor should he: he is a 21-year-old playing in an intimidatingly alien environment and in a position where maturity usually isn't reached until the thirties. At the age of 21, Peter Schmeichel was playing for Hvidovre and Edwin van der Sar was sitting on the Ajax bench. The surprise is not that De Gea has made mistakes; it's that he has not made more. He has given plenty of demonstrations of his raw, rare talent. No Premier League goalkeeper will have a better portfolio of saves in 2011-12. When it comes to shot-stopping, DDG is dead, dead good. It's probable that he will be guilty of another cock-up or two before the end of the season; it's certain that he will earn United more points with saves that take the breath away. Ferguson knew this when he identified De Gea as Van der Sar's replacement. In that sense, he's not lucky at all. "

I agree, although I'd argue that without the momentum and confidence booster for Blakcburn to score when they did, we would have turned them over having gotten back to 2-2.
Also, going out of the European Cup and F. A. Cup to Liverpool aren't things that can be set aside just because they weren't lost points.
