I agree, although I'd argue that without the momentum and confidence booster for Blakcburn to score when they did, we would have turned them over having gotten back to 2-2. Also, going out of the European Cup and F. A. Cup to Liverpool aren't things that can be set aside just because they weren't lost points. But you also cant blame the keeper completely for them.

No, they can't be overlooked but I think it's important to note his mental strength. He made a dreadful mistake against those animlas at Anfield but 2 weeks later he pulled off a great save to stop them robbing a draw. In a game that he had nothing to do. That was very impressive.
His shot -stopping and distribution are pretty much at an exceptoional level. He's got plenty of room to put on more muscle and will clear people out of the way when coming for crosses. That's his only weakness now.. Once that is sorted he'll be the very best in Europe. Bar none.

I'll keep saying it. But him having a settled centre back pairing has done wonders for him.

I have admit that I was badly badly wrong with De Gea,he is starting look like a decent keeper. I doubt he will ever get anywhere near the quality of good old Paddy Roche, but a decent keeper he is gonna be

De Gea is starting to look settled between the posts. The consistant time on the pitch without worrying whether or not he will be starting is giving him the confidence to do what he does best on the pitch. He still needs to learn how to command the box on a cross but that will come with learning the league.

Funny how things turn out - De Gea was in the dumps and it looked like Lindegaard will be in the first team for this season. He then get's injured, majority were affraid De Gea's fuck ups will continue BUT he's been brilliant in the last month. Well done David!!!

ive noticed that after each save he has an air of confidence about him, he looks towards the other guys as if to say "you see that, YEAH" " YEAH"
as soon as he puts 2 or 3 kg on he'll be commanding the box like Schemiceal did - hopefully we'll get to see some saves like @ 0:03

no doubt he will be the best keeper in the world in a year or 2 for me. reflexes, kicking, mental strength and with physical strength he will dominate

De gea for me..some of the saves he's made might have beat even van der sar..lindegaard is good and a great #2 but de gea's shot stopping and distribution puts him ahead..the whole witch hunt by the media was ludicrous for a 20 year old kid coming to the biggest club in the world..he is showing them now and i hope he keeps it up

There is some absolute comedy gold in this thread. Go back to pages 17-20. Honestly, it's well worth it. It's also a real eye-opener and a lesson in terms of fans slating young players and how patience is always a virtue. But mostly it's hilarious to see people scream "He'll never be a Utd keeper, he'll cost us the league, send him to therapy!"

mate those views were absolute crackers. the guy is abundantly talented and most impressive of all is his mental strength, he has been panned greatly and he has just kept quiet and got on with it.

I stand by what I said then; De Gea needs to develop an aura around the box so that's it's "His house", and also that he needs to be bigger stature wise.
He's been immense the past few of weeks though and you can see that with confidence he's the outstanding 'keeper many of us were convinced he could be.

Done a great job, never failed to have faith in his ability and his potential. Needs to keep up the progress he has made with his confidence, communication and strength.
For all those who suggest that he is currently the best keeper (which I have heard among my own lads) - I think it's ludicrous to say so. Don't think he's on par with the calm VDS and lest the mighty Schmeichel YET. But the day should come within a span of 5 years I reckon. I think it'll take some time for Dave to buff up and fully develop the rest of the areas.
