From the matchday thread: Reports in media following the Stoke match are suggesting that De Gea is unhappy at United and wants to leave. Apparently he's appointed Jorge Mendes as his agent and is looking to return to Spain where his girlfriend still lives. How nice. Sad if true, but gossips are gossips. Although I do have a feeling that eventually he will choose to return to Spain... just not this quick eh! De Gea had a good game. However, I have to somewhat agree (in a less harsher tone) with Bestie that the goal we first conceded De Gea dcould have done better. The cross was in a narrow area where World-Class goalkeepers should claim the ball 9 out of 10 times... ...BUT, De Gea is still learning his trade especially in claiming crosses, and he is still not the complete article and not a World-Class goalkeeper yet. Plus, for someone learning the trade, that cross was very well taken and was pretty fast laced. De Gea seemed to only react when the ball flew diagonally past him. So, no, I don't FAULT De Gea, but it is something he can improve on. I think in gist, that's really what Bestie wants to say deep down inside There's no scapegoat. If a mistake is made, it is the fault of the whole team. Haven't playing team sports taught you guys anything? Although I do still think it's weird having Rooney marking Shawcross, but if you think about it, it's difficult when Stoke lines up a team mainly with just tall men. Our defense looked shaky too many times otherwise. On an unrelated topic, still think we should sign Butland if he's available.

Ill just quote what ive said in the matchday thread. Id put a good bet on this shite coming from 2 sources The sun or Weakypedia. Same old bag of bollocks. a player gets dropped through bad form and all of a sudden they are unhappy, my god people need to ignore this shite.

The "he is unhappy" and "wants to return" has actually been around for more than 2 weeks now. Didn't mentions cos it was on Caughtoffside and other trash logs. And he changed his agent to Mendes before he joined us if i remember correctly , so in not getting the facts that's just some bad report. But i wouldn't be surprised if this continues everytime we rotate esp around Jan watch for Paperfills As far has the OG goes , i don;t blame De Gea --but if he is to be blamed then so should Begovic be for Rooney' s goal. The fact is that had he come of line and goal gone in then he'd still be blamed , yes he still punches the ball away instead of Catching , but give him some time and please don't say that he should learn in training or that he has had 1 & 1/2 season. WE have given a lot of players more time than that and still believed and supported them - can't understand this negativity towards De Gea. Whatever confidence he had i'd say took a huge knock with SAF saying that he was dropped after 1 mistake , that will be playing in his mind all the time . He needs time. Evans, Fletcher, Rafael ,Carrick - Divided opinion a lot , took BS Criticism a lot and were first on most people's list to be sold out. Yet not many would complain, in fact would defo have these players in a flash in the team sheets now. DDG is that type of player , needs time and support from us fans. Rumor or not one look at the thread and he'd look at packing his bags

If you think De Gea could've dealt with the cross for the OG, then I despair. No keeper is getting near that. It's right in the old 'corridor of uncertainty' so much so, Rooney nodded it in as he didn't know what else to do.

Absolutely, it was driven in just over the heads of those at the front post, no way De Gea could come out for it, only person we should be blaming is Scholesy for this daft challenge that gave them the freekick in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to return back home, he's had a tough time of it since arriving. I actually thought he was doing quite well this season apart from the mistake at Fulham, i'm not his biggest fan either but I still saw improvement in him.
Hope we stick with him, he's only going to get better. I think him being dropped this season has a lot to do with Fergie protecting him from the press, he doesn't want his confidence shattered so early on like it was last season.

He might be feeling a bit down as he gets slaughtered for every mistake, but son, welcome to Manchester United.
You're under the microscope like no where else here, because the press are obsessed with us as a club and everything to do with us.
Plus, they massively love to pick any fault in Fergie, so if they think he's dropped a clanger signing you, they will take that story and run with it regardless of your actuall performances.
It's why a countryman of yours can get away with playing shit for 18 months, making countless more mistakes than you and costing his team way more points, but because he plays for a nothing, mid table club that generates no interest in the public, those mistakes are never mentioned. (I'm talking of course about Pepe Reina).
But you fail to come for a cross and BANG!
Man up, it takes a special kind of player to play here, and you have to learn to shrug the abuse that the media generates by slating you off.
If you can ignore the anti United crusade the London based press are on, then you will be a star. Best keeper in the world in 5 years, mark my words.

Have to disagree with both of you (re: dealing with cross). I keep in the Uni team and it's my job to read and punch those balls out when I can (and fail miserably when I don't, which is my fault - but there's always a risk of course). Like you said, "window of uncertainty" - the uncertainty comes from the players / goalkeepers. Again, in no way am I criticising De Gea. It took me YEARS to learn to judge the flight of corners (and I'm still edgy about it). In a way, I know how De Gea is feeling as I had the same problems as he had with confidence and corners especially around new lads... but of course, the gulf between the EPL and Uni varsity games / amateur games are extremely huge by comparison, so imagine the difficulty x32151263. Seriously though, corners are a bitch to keep personally - especially with these kind of driven crosses. It's difficult, but not impossible. But yes, Scholes' challenge was rash.

Slap a price tag of 40m or ask C.Ron in exchange. Or ask them to buy Bebe too and mandatorily play Bebe in EVERY match or else pay 'fine' to United whenever Bebe doesn't play. There are more than 1 way of saying 'no' u know

Yeh I'm sure they already need to replacement for 31 year old Casillas, he probably only has another 8,9,10 years in him. Not to mention hes basically God in Madrid, they love him way more than Ronaldo.

What a fucking depressing thought.
A keeper with as many good attributes as you can get at such a young age.
An area to work with (his command of the six yard box) and he's subjected to rotation.
A better keeper than the Dane - and there are fucking loads of them - would've had the agility to save Gerrard's effort and Bale's too IMO.
A keeper like De Gea....

I'd be more worried about Barca copping on to the fact that Valdes is a complete turnip and moving for De Gea.
