Not really, this is bob on. I'm not convinced by Lindegaard, haven't been since the 'mare at Newcastle last season. i'm not convinced he's even that much better at the stuff de Gea is struggling with. de Gea is the better keeper and the future between the sticks. play him now, don't undermine his confidence, let him learn the game. Precisely this. DdG each and every meaningful game.

What has that got to do with him coming to catch crosses?"
It's a widely held view by pretty much anyone that works/has an interest in football that keepers don't reach their peak until their late 20s. If that is the case then it seems a little premature to write off a 21 year old. I'm not sure if there is much footage out there but if you can try to find some of Schmeichel's first season in England. At times sensational, at times he looked like he had Dracula's fondness for crosses. He improved hugely (though was at times capable of serious clangers which everyone seems to conveniently forget) and he was a 26 year old international when he arrived at Utd

Have a look at this vid. In and around the 7 minute mark. This is as bad as, if not worse than anything DDG has come up with yet.
And 1;15 seconds into this one. Bear in mind this was 2 years later.
Again, horrible keeping. And he was the best I've ever seen by a mile.

Some people are kidding themselves if they think that Lingegaard is better than De Gea. Other than his catching ability (one that will improve with time) hes by far one of the best young keepers in Europe.
As ive said before people outweigh the good with the bad. Lingegaard is a good keeper dont get me wrong but I think its a stupid argument. If De Gea could catch then this thread would be null and void. Instead we pick a fault and use that to slate the guy. Yes he may have cost us some points but then he also saved us a shit load as well.

I didn't watch the videos specifically because I want to guess. Is it The Great Dane, and is the second error in question the one where he sells the farm away to Bayern Munich in the Group of Death in '98/'99?

But another good example of Peter, a GREAT GK, making a rare mistake. It happens. He probably learned from it.

Again, horrible keeping. And he was the best I've ever seen by a mile. I used Barthez rather than Schmicks cos it would have been really close to balsphemy for very many here. But this goes to show that DDG at 21 is still very much better and his ONLY mistake so far seems to be his inability to deal with crosses. With time i am sure that will be corrected. Repeating myself here, but when Anders was injured near the end of last season and we had to play DdG , he got into his own and was actually pretty consistent. Command of the Box. He has Rio, Vida and Evra there, anyone who thinks that a new GK , 21 years old will start to or should have by now be bollocking orders to our defense seriously needs some time out

As if further proof were needed (and it wasn't IMO) this debate should end now. Some of De Gea's stops today were fantastic. We can talk about about 'thou shall not pass" attitudes and any amount of gandalfisms but the save from Torres is right up there with the very best you'll see. Breathtaking. I like Anders but he's not even getting close to that.

That free kick he saved with his feet on the bounce was immense.

I thought today's match ( Wished before the game) that his play would silence all his critics and he was brilliant. If that doesn't do it then i don't what will. HE was terrific today. But wouldn't be surprised if someone thinks that the 2nd goal should have been saved by DdG
