Haway mate. You're joking. De Gea hasn't actually been left out, seriously?

Is it? Who is the keeper then? Cech. Most clean sheets this season, so hard to argue. But I will, because De Gea has been immense this season. Really stepped up from promising 'kid' to superb goalkeeper. There's a great image somewhere which Bestie i think posted which shows De Gea has the best stats in every department except clean sheets.

Unfortunately, clean sheets is the go to stat when standing in judgement of them. Much like the striker who continually gets man of the match ,having done nothing except put the ball in the net. Yes it's a crucial stat but not the be all and end all.

Clean sheets is a piss poor yardstick to judge a keeper. That's a collective and not individual attribute. Goalie's stats as in the page before is the right way to determine who has been the best, surely?

Goalie's stats as in the page before is the right way to determine who has been the best, surely? Absolutely it is, but it seems these people are blind to it. The average footy fan seems to want everything as simplified as possible, hence ignoring every other stat bar that one. Ditto the striker stats as I mentioned. You've only got to look at the player ratings in the tabloids every Sunday, to see how people can fundamentally misjudge a player.

Really stepped up from promising 'kid' to superb goalkeeper. De Gea has been immense. Clean sheets is an indicator of defence and GK together. Agree that it is one of the yardsticks but not the most important one. IMO If there is any indicator that should have the maximum weightage, it should be Shots saved.

Both Marshall and Speroni have been better than Cech this season.

DDG is two attributes away from being a complete 'keeper, he's that close already. I just worry it won't come, and in the meantime we will suffer for his learning curve. Well. I was wrong. Here it is. Only one page back.

De Gea has grown into what we thought he was going to be when we bought him. Yes his first year was shaky and he showed promise, but just look at the way he plays now. Some of his saves just blown my mind... the double kick save for example! If he stay here for a very long time, I see him up there with Schmeichel and VDS. He isn't has commanding as there were, but hell of ability to keep us in the game on a bad defense day...
