I hope he has the same clarity of mind now with De Gea & buys another keeper to either replace him or be back up to Lindergaard. i need to stay away from this thread it's actually winding me up. short-sighted is right. he is clearly going to be one of the best keepers in the world given time, and he's doing just fine for us now.

Can't believe De Gea is still getting stick. Sure, he's had a few lapses in concentration but he's a young lad and he's already saved us plenty of times this season. We'd have lost to the dippers if it wasn't for him. Not sure on the stats at the moment, but earlier in the season, we'd had the most shots on goal against us but we had hardly conceeded any up to the City game where he may as well have been on his own at the back. He quite clearly has the potential and soon enough, he will be one of the best in the World. He is the lesser of our issues right now agreed, in time. The only problem I have is the communication. It does not take talent to command the box, if he has a language problem he is not communicating to his back 4 what they need to do, as seen with smalling v Basel. De Gea kept his mouth shut Smalling had no idea Frei was lurking he clearly was letting that ball go out of play. Five outfeild players were to blame for that goal ahead of the keeper, Rooney, for getting robbed on the edge of the box, Evra was miles out of position, Ferdinand didnt close down the cross, Evans was more interested in fouling rather than heading the ball away, then Smalling letting the ball bounce across our goal and not knowing where his man was, the keeper could be forgiven for expecting 4 bloody defenders to actually defend.

Oi! cuidado con el corredor que viene detrás de ti! ¿Es que no entienden el español o algo así? I imagine this amounts to somewhere near what De Gea would have shouted at Smalling if he didnt think Evans was going to win the ball as it was crossed in.

20 years old and responsible for UTD going out of the CL all alone apparently.
We were pants, the whole team, the whole tournament and the last game surely Rooney should be sacked for that miss (sarcasm).
Get a grip boys! I and many others can remember when just playing in Europe was a pipe dream. Roll on next season!!!
Utd for ever.

I will say that our back 4 looks much more confident with linde in goal. Impressed tonight with him.

First post in a while so I'll try to make it intelligent.
I think it's great that we have two goalkeepers at the minute who genuinely are nip and tuck for a first team place, and whilst in the long term its not feasible to chop and change our keepers on a whim, i think for the moment it might work.
i have little doubt that de gea will become one of the worlds top keepers given time, his shot-stopping and positioning is second to none, although, like many, i have had my reservations about his distribution, especially considering that before his arrival he was touted as being one of the best distributors from goal in the game. However, given his youth, and his relatively short-time in the English game, his progress from The Hawthornes in August has been superb....
...that said, what a cracker this Lindegaard fella is!! Despite his Bitter streak, I'm a big admirer of Joe Hart. Lindegaard is of the Hart mould and at this moment of time, fills me with a tad more confidence than de Gea. Big, Powerful, Agile despite of his size and....VOCAL!!!
De Gea in time will be #1 and I very much look forward to the day that he becomes a shoe in, no questions asked type of selection. But for the moment, the competitions healthy....and I think it will bring on the capabilities of both players ten-fold.

Nice welcome back post Moscow. Two decent keepers, how refreshing it is to be able to say that.

At the moment it seems we're very fortunate to have both. I'm not why some pundits seem convinced we have no first choice keeper, we quite clearly do. the thing is Lindegaard seems good enough to get game time and no doubt Fergie promised him some. I think it works out well, they probably take a little pressure off each other as well as a bit of healthy competition. Lindegaard seems to have the right mentality for his role. Others like Kuz and Foster, looked nervous when they had to come fill in for VDS. He looks pretty intent on trying to prove himself though. Scouts have done very good.

Agree with the sentiment United is fortunate having both DeGea and Lindegaard. I thought Anders played a great game against Fulham. Very commanding and he never seems to lack confidence. Five clean sheets in the last five games he's played. As of now, I don't think it's a problem since both seem to be getting a good amount of match play but I think Anders is too good to remain a back-up for long.

Sick of defending De Gea he is shocking and i do not want to hear he is one for the future crap. The 3rd goal today was shocking any good goalkeeper would come out and clear that and does he do? gets knocked a side the yellow cunt. Lindegaard got a run in the team there for a while and looked great but then gets dropped?

Lindegaard hasn't conceded a League goal this season. Previously there was an argument for saying De Gea has been the one playing against the top sides, Lindegaard only comes in against crap teams. Well, Blackburn had 3 shots on target today and De Gea didn't save one of them.
Lindegaard for Number one please.

Sick of defending him? You've done nothing but criticise. When and where? "Surely its time for Lindegaard to be given a run in the 1st team, De Gea mistakes are costing us" "How the hell was he unlucky for the 1st one? a good goalkeeper should be going down and picking that ball up instead of kicking it. Even before that he got very lucky when he came out to catch the ball and made a hash of it. Am not saying he was at fault for us going out but he has made some big mistakes for us and it is costing us no 1 can say otherwise." Yup, that's defending him
