Ok, so it's worrying that this comes from a Catalan paper:
Catalan newspaper Sport have a claim on their Tuesday front page which won't make great reading for Manchester United supporters. The newspaper go with the words 'Madrid: De Gea, Fichaje Imminente', and that means that a transfer of David De Gea to Real Madrid is considered imminent.
Sport claim Iker Casillas' reign with Real Madrid is coming to an end. The Spanish international lost his cool at the weekend and ranted at fans after receiving yet more criticism from behind his goal. Madrid were playing Valencia in a draw which probably cost them any realistic chance of winning La Liga, and fans decided to blame Casillas for some it. Sport, being Catalan, are biased toward Barcelona and against Real Madrid, so any opportunity to stir the pot at their rivals will be taken... which can damage objectivity.
Almost every day in Spain there are claims on the future of De Gea and he's used by both the Barcelona and Madrid friendly media to point score, which can obviously be frustrating for Manchester United fans. The specific claims of Sport on Tuesday are that De Gea has still not responded to Manchester United's latest big money offer to him, and that a Real Madrid transfer is imminent.
That would see Casillas pushed out of the club he grew up at, and Sport are clearly enjoying the idea of a bit of trouble at Real Madrid. As far as Manchester United worry goes, there doesn't appear to be anything particularly new or alarming in the Sport report, but until De Gea commits to his current club these kinds of claims will pop every few days or so.

I just hope, whichever way it goes, that it's done on the first day of the window being open at the very latest

A ray of hope??
Carlo Ancelotti has hinted Real Madrid are not on the look-out for a new goalkeeper despite speculation linking the Spanish giants with a move for Manchester United's David De Gea.
De Gea, who only has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid's current No.1, Iker Casillas, has been frequently criticised by the club's fans this season.
But ahead of Real's Champions League semi-final second leg against Juventus, Ancelotti insisted he's not looking to axe the 33-year-old.
He said: "He’s repeated many times that he wants to stay here, he has the confidence of everyone, the coach, his teammates and the club."
Ancelotti also responded to suggestions Real could look to off-load United target Gareth Bale in the summer.
Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, had hinted the 25-year-old is unhappy in the Spanish capital.
But Ancelotti has hit back by insisting the Welshman is an important part of his plans.
Ancelotti added: "He has had a good season. Last year he scored in the final of the Copa Del Rey and the Champions League, as well as other important moments.
“We’re happy with him. A lot of people talk, perhaps too much.
“His agent speaks without ever seeing a training session, without knowing the environment here. No-one in the dressing room has a problem with him.
“I’ve talked to him many times, he’s happy to be here. He has no problem, and he doesn’t think the same way his agent does."

I love DDG I rated him when he was gettin shed loads of abuse early on and I think he will become the best in the world. But he can't just keep fucking this contract extension off. Even if he does want to go, he should sign a deal so we can get a deal that is worthy. We stood by him and helped made him the keeper he is today. No matter who we get to replace him it won't be quite the same. No1 will be as good as Dave. As long as we get a player in a PX ... Varane, bale, caravajal,

Man Utd would be crazy to use David de Gea to land Gareth Bale – Memphis Depay is a better prospect anyway
Paul Parker says David de Gea isn't the best keeper in England - but he is vital to Manchester United and shouldn't be sacrificed in a misguided attempt to sign Gareth Bale. 3 hours ago Paul Parker
The speculation suggesting Manchester United could sacrifice David De Gea in an attempt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid is ridiculous. Why would they do such a thing when, in Memphis Depay, they have a player who could be even better than Bale?
Depay is 21 and has achieved more at his age than Bale had; he is a better player at this stage of his development. Depay comes to United as the top scorer in his domestic league and having impressed at a World Cup so United should be far from desperate to sign the Welshman from Real Madrid, certainly not to the extent that they would lose De Gea in the process.
If I was Bale I would stay in Spain. He needs to stay and prove a point for himself after having a difficult second season. He has to fight his corner and returning to England as soon as things got tough wouldn’t be a good move.
Ultimately he will be seen as a world-record flop if he leaves now. He has to stick with it and I don’t think he will leave this summer.
There’s talk that De Gea has been offered as much as £200,000 per week as United look to hold onto him. I don’t think any footballer is worth that much – not compared to someone who saves someone’s life every day – but inside the football world, he is worth it. He is a massive commodity for the club.
If De Gea left I think Manchester United would have to go out and buy a world-class keeper, and how many of those are available? He could command a world-record fee for a goalkeeper but if you can’t buy a replacement, then that’s not much help.
De Gea should really give United another season. He should see who the club bring in this summer and what that says about their ambition. You also have to be sure what Real Madrid’s intentions are – if Casillas stays, then is he guaranteed the No. 1 jersey? Logically it would go to De Gea, but Madrid are governed by politics, not logic, and let’s not forget that Casillas is still picked ahead of him for Spain. There’s no point going to Madrid to be a back-up.
In football, and in life in general, it’s nice to be somewhere you are loved and adored and De Gea shouldn’t underestimate that. Yes, he could join perhaps the biggest club in the world, but will he have the same adulation? Look at what’s happened to Bale at the Bernabeu, and how the fans have turned on him.
There was talk that Victor Valdes had been signed as De Gea’s replacement but he hasn’t had a sniff yet. Van Gaal likes continuity with his goalkeepers, unlike other teams who keep switching them around for different competitions. United can’t do that because you need a stable back four to do that.
I don’t agree with it. You don’t have to rest a goalkeeper and they like to play week in, week out because their best form of training is reaction training and there’s no substitute like the biggest games. I don’t understand it when I see Barcelona use Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the Champions League and Claudio Bravo for La Liga. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. Your No. 1 is your No. 1.
I didn’t agree when Phil Jones said De Gea is the best in the world at the moment – that’s a rash comment and maybe he wasn’t thinking straight after running around for a while. De Gea is a great shot stopper and he has certainly had a lot of practice this season, but you have to judge him on the biggest stages, when Manchester United are at their peak and trying to win the Champions League. You judge a goalkeeper during the times he is redundant.
Keepers like Manuel Neuer have to maintain their concentration for vast swathes of matches when the ball is in the opposition half and then they are suddenly called upon to make a world-class save. Iker Casillas was the same at his peak.
Thibaut Courtois has been the same at Chelsea, and if you are looking to identify the best goalkeeper in England, it has to be him. He excels despite having long spells of having nothing to do. De Gea has been kept active at all times.
He’s clearly been Manchester United’s best player though. They say a good goalkeeper is worth 10 points, and De Gea might be worth even more. He has won them more games than any goalscorer and is the main reason they are in the top four at all.

After LVGs comments yesterday, it pretty clear he's on his way to Real, he's just trying to soften the blow but I'm really disappointed about it, if you consider how long it took us to replace quality keepers in the past we really got it right signing De Gea when we did because he's now blossomed into one of the top keepers in the world. He's on the same level as Neur for me and we can't sign him. I'm sure we wouldn't be in the top 4 without him, that much is obvious. Think how many points he could save a title winning side.

I think we should hold off on throwing shit at him, for now. Once it's confirmed I'll be at the head of the queue but let's see.
I honestly expect him to leave though. Have done for months.
