Don't really know where to go next! Sorry to hear that. You've got a great job though !! I tried my hand at tennis a few times, attended coaching camps upto an intermediate level. Its just so much fun. Too bad am too lazy to get up at 6 daily and drive 5kms to the nearest tennis club.

Don't really know where to go next! If they stopped letting every man and his dog into this country it wouldn't need to happen - shoebox flats going up all over the place round here - even on greenbelt It's a bloody island - we can't build an extension!

People bang on about not enough children in sports and not enough high level British athletes, they wonder why... Yup, when I was a kid my mother would literally frogmarch me and my brother out the house, with a ball and our bikes and tell us to stay out for at least a couple of hours. (Looking back it's probably so my mam and dad could engage in adult related activities, the dirty blighters). Now not only do kids have so few places to go and play, stupidly anxious parents wrap them in cotton wool and won't let them leave the house.

My Parents would come and find me when it was getting dark. I would be in one park or another playing football. it's wasnt the same after we moved to a city though. Still used to go on bike rides throught the hills and stuff but if I ddidn't answer my phone there'd be hell to pay. That's probably also to do with having phones when I was a teenager which weren't around when I was a kid. Don't know how I'll be in a few years when my daughter is older.

I tried every trick in the book to squeeze ten more minutes of footie, cricket, war etc. Anything we did as kids was epic and went on for hours. I remember we had a cricket match against a rival street. It was fantastic, everyone got involved, parents included. It lasted all day. We won with a six on the last ball scored by my cousin, she was mint at rounders and could smash a ball. Secret weapon!!

Interesting thread!! Glad that I came across this one, read all the 11 pages and feel that I know people better now. Observed that there are many (ex)army/navymen and teachers amongst us.
About me: I completed my MBA in Finance & then pursued Financial Risk Management from GARP. Now, an out and out finance professional working for a bank as Deputy Manager in Investment department. My profile is to look into attractive investment opportunities in debt and equity markets as well as trade with the excess funds that the bank has. So, essentially directly hitting the bottom line of the bank.
