Just discovered this thread and so glad I did. It's really interesting putting detail to forum names. Potted history - ex Army and dossed around for a while when I got out (bar work, hire car driver etc) Got a job in advertising agencies which led to a teaching job in a FE College which in turn has now led to me being employed at an amazing International school in Jeju South Korea. Old enough and fortunate enough to have been given the chance to learn on the job rather than rely on qualifications so only getting around to finishing my degree in graphic design now online. Loving it though and may go further with MA and perhaps beyond and intending to travel the world for a while on the International school circuit. Which is a great prospect but a bummer when it comes to watching matches!

Hey Bestie, are you fully practicing yet? Yeah mate! Out a while now, almost a couple of years. Must admit seeing 'CptWonderballs_' in the same sentence referencing my law practice raised a bashful smile. Hardly the most hand-in-hand connection is it? I'd love to tell you I'm enjoying it but it's all one big long slog to be honest. Working on Wills/Probate (dealing with estates of the deceased) is both dull and depressing. Most of my days consist of doing conveyancing paper pushing and managing clients' expectations of when they can purchase/sell their properties. Not the most inspiring work in the world of the Law. Firm is stuck in the mud because of how difficult things are financially everywhere. Can't maximise the potential of our building in terms of layout and storage; can't shift our practice focus as realistically we'd have to hire a completely different 'specialism' of solicitor to get us moving in the direction I would like. Not all bad though! By the end of the year I will have completed the requisite number of Continuing Development hours (3 years' worth within 2 years) to be eligible to become a partner. Next step is raising the capital! Outside of work I've been approved for a mortgage to buy my first 'live in' property. I do own one in Newcastle from University but it's rented out, the value took a big hit with the crash, and obviously, well it's in Newcastle.

Fuck, lost my job and trying to find a new one, really really bad. My country is shit, total utter shit. It's all about politics around here, no matter if you have 10 fucking degrees, multiple certificates to know how to do a job you're presented with there is always someone more favorable and less qualified but with good schemes to get the job. To get to the point, there were elections in my country and corrupted politicians won (who always preferred that they have their sons, daughters, cousins in positions they want), and after elections were over and winner announced it was only a matter of days before I got terminated. For no obvious reason at all. Fuck, can't even sue, I mean I can, but it wouldn't get me anywhere. Currently applicating for atleast 10 jobs, sent numerous CV's, and still no luck at all. Thought by having IT degree it would be easier and adept at working with jobs that requires administration and understanding law it would be easier. But in this shithole, if you're not son of some rich mother fucker who has good connections, you're fucking nobody.
