i accepted ages ago that carrick can be overly casual at times and it costs him the ball. that's the downside to him but as best said he's a class act and he is worth his place in the side. edit - i think he has been breaking forward more this seasonn WK. He absolutely has, which has caused me to change my tune. When he's bombed forward he hasn't looked out of place, that goal at QPR being a prime example, or that rocket shot against the post against...Villa or was it QPR again?!? I think that part of his game has been coached out of him, partly by stone-age tactics and partly because he's had to compensate for the "midfielders" beside him. stone age tactics? nothings been coached out of carrick IMO, he has his role in the team and his primary role doesn't include getting up and down quite as much as a typical box to box player. the continentals all admire what carrick does very much

I dunno, basically everyone seems pretty high on Hernandez even though he's utterly gash at all football outside of the 6 yard box. Oi...none of that. El Inzaghi is untouchable in my eyes. On Carrick, I've changed my tune on him this season. He's had enough moments of fluidity this year to make me think he's become a victim of tactical ineptitude and has been told to sit back and move the ball along. I recall him getting forward and being involved in and around the box during the Quiroz era, and that was when we were the fastest, most feared attacking side in the world. Nah, Hernandez has a lot to do for me, we don't play enough brilliant football for Chicha not to improve. Either we start playing most of our football in the final third/putting quality balls into the 18 to 6 yard box instead of infront of teams, or Hernandez needs to work on his overall game. Third choice behind Rooney and Welbeck in my eyes right now, would never start him ahead of those two in any situation. As for Carrick, look at some of the footage from his time breaking through at West Ham, and then for Spurs. I've banged on about it before that he was a, dynamic, forward-thinking, attacking midfielder. As you said yourself, he did it a bit in 2006-2008 and was glorious. We have absolutely tactic-ed it out of him. He's been told to sit and when he gets his mojo going he is awesome at that too. On Kagawa, those "quotes" look very positive. Here's hoping we can get a deal sorted quickly and get it confirmed. If we could confirm it tomorrow before the game it might be a nice wee lift for the atmosphere around the stadium even! (I know, too optimistic.)

He doesn't need to be the center of attention in every game becaue he does what he does very well.

I'm excited by this. But if you haven't seen him play, you should still be excited because we finally signed a midfielder.

Should be the first part of what has been missing for a few years. Hopefully a couple more to follow.
Might not have to put up with a few people bitching and moaning for much longer so. Wonder what they will turn their attention to now?
