Nani: I'd like to return to Man Utd, I still love the club
Nani has opened the door to a possible return to Manchester United after admitting he still "loves" the club and is in regular contact with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
United sent Nani on a season-long loan to Sporting Lisbon as part of the deal that brought Marcos Rojo to Old Trafford last summNani has opened the door to a possible return to Manchester United after admitting he still "loves" the club and is in regular contact with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
The winger revealed Woodward has been in touch to congratulate him on his good form and the midfielder appears open to the possibility of staying at United once his loan at Sporting expires.
"I love Manchester United," the Portuguese told the Guardian.
"The only decision I made (last summer) was to play more and be me again, because I lost a lot of things there last season due to injuries and the change of manager.
"You never know the future," Nani added.
"It depends on a lot of things. If United want me to stay then with a different mentality I think we can work well next season but there are a lot of things to discuss and see."
Nani has been in good form since his move to Portugal, scoring eight goals in 25 appearances.
He broke down in tears after scoring his latest goal last Sunday - a dipping long-range volley in the 2-0 win against Gil Vicente.
The 28-year-old, who joined United from Sporting in 2007, said he was overcome by emotion because of "personal stuff".
He also revealed Woodward messaged him to congratulate him on scoring the goal.
"I receive some texts from Ed Woodward," Nani said.
"He texted me about the goal [on Sunday] and the great season I am having here."

I'd prefer him to stay. The step-up between leagues is massive BUT I'll always have a soft spot for him and he's still capable of playing at this level.

Having seen the dross served up in the main this season I'm all for a player that takes a risk now and again, tries to beat a man. If he could cut out the over-playing he'd bring pace, crossing and goals. However, considering how Van Gall has treated players that are less than 100% certain of ball retention you can easily imagine Nani having one poor game and then not seeing him again for about 3 months.

Manchester United winger Nani says he has not heard from manager Louis van Gaal since going on loan to Sporting Lisbon for the duration of the season. The Portugal international was loaned out following the 2014 summer signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid and has scored four goals in 18 league appearances back with Sporting. However, in an ominous sign over his long-term United future, Nani has revealed how he is yet to be contacted by Van Gaal during his spell, only hearing from executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward after his goal against Gil Vicente.www.ibtimes.co.uk/manchester-united-star-nani-focused-sporting-lisbon-loan-hopes-old-trafford-return-1489604?

There is something about Nani that never allowed me to completely trust him as a player. Even when he was tearing defences apart, I was unsure about the Nani that would turn up in the next game. But, given our current options, I would like to give him some more chances (if we are not signing a RW).
It is highly unlikely though, that LvG will play 3-4 players in the team who want to take risks (ADM, Nani, Herrera). That would be criminal in LvGs eyes

IF we were to go all guns and spend to sign Pogba, I'd accept Nani back as a right wing option.

The team would look totally different and would be doubly effective with him in the side. He would make lot of our players look better and more effective. The importance and potential impact of Pogba is so obvious that we are discussing him in the Nani thread

Unless Pogba can score routinely from 40 yards, he will not be the answer. As for Nani - Sir Alex could not get the best out of him. Van Gaal sure as hell wont.

TBH I think Nani suffered big time as being looked on as "The New Ronaldo"
Maybe spent too much time trying to live up to that instead of getting his head down and producing solid, consistent performances
