Same as what happened with Heinze. Healthy competition for places. Whoever is better makes the position his own.

If we perform better in the Cup competitions and do better in the Champions league, both will get game time, believe me.

Evra's been averaging near 50 games a season, so there's plenty of space for another potential starter.

Reckon Baines could be another Valencia-esque signing. And on the subject of Tony V; I think Evra starting on the wing with Baines behind him could be work like Valencia and Rafael overlapping. (Obviously Evra would need to learn how to put in a cross first.) :-/

Only thing stopping this going through is Everton wanting more than we're willing to offer. I'd expect some form of compromise before pre-season tour time. Especially as we gave them Gibson on the proper cheap back in January,

Full backs playing on the wing, however attacking, rarely work. Totally different angles to attack, less space to work in etc.

Evra on the wing? For all the runs he makes a season he does well if he gets 1 assist. He plays alright in build up but is near useless when it comes to any final ball.

He just needs some good competition for LB. We need to be able to drop him whens he's not playing well, because the free ticket to consistent starts over the last 2 years haven't helped him regain his form.
