I liked everything until the "modern" era. I fear our facade to the world as a first rate, "gentlemen and ladies" country will lose its credence. Haha.
I hope it will move quickly onto the next section.

Too many people just being negative and cynical for the sake of it.
It's been a phenomenal ceremony, the Mr Bean bit was probably the worst part, and I liked that bit.
I'm quite proud to be British after this.

I think its been very, very, very good. the iron rings were awesome and Rowan Atkinson was just genius. Peaked there though, the next bit wasnt that great but nice soundtrack.
unlike China with its hyper polish and super syncronoised stuff, ours has real imagination and meaning.

Am proud to be British. I didn't like what came after Rowan's part, but I think the whole ceremony sums up our country in a nutshell, extremely well. Perhaps it suits the history of our country too. Think the Chinese were "organised and professional", while we had more "warmth and personal" feel to it, in contrast to Beijing 2008. And am proud we did it that way. Also very proud to see a mixture of race in all performances. Really shows our strength in diversity.

Not being negative for the sake of it, I genuinely think its been a poor ceremony. Granted its better than I thought it would be, but at times there's too much going on so its hard to get into it. Some bits have been OK. Just think its been poor, Ill always be proud to be British. Just hope the games are better.
Although I stopped watching it half way through.

Well, i'm Irish and i thought it was an incredible opening ceremony.
Top class stuff. Really enjoyable. You should be extremely proud if you're from GB.
I watched it on our national broadcaster here- RTE, and you've been roundly praised. Brilliant.
We get a rake of channels over here, RTE, and all of the international channels, along with all of the UK channels- BBC Northern Ireland, ITV Ulster Television, so i was looking at the BBC now and again.
Extremely impressive.

The choice of handing off to the young athletes was clever and the way the leaves built up into the flame was genius. Very happy with the ceremony.
One gripe though, why did we have to have french announcements?

The american commentators mixed their vocab and said the queen looks incredible 'fit'. Im pretty sure that would be a blunder in the UK haha.

French is the official language of the Olympics fletch, hence the French. Thanks, didnt know. Apparently we were contractually obliged to do French announcements and do them first. God damn French.
