www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2240035/Arsenal-Manchester-United-discover-Mario-Gotze-Borussia-Dortmund-release-clause.htmlArsenal and Manchester United have been alerted after it was revealed that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze has a release clause of £30million. The Germany international, 20, has excelled in the Champions League this season. The clause is set to expire in July and a written offer needs to be submitted to the Bundesliga champions by April. Gotze is a long-term Arsenal target who came through the youth system at Dortmund. The German international playmaker is wanted by a host of top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid. But Gotze agreed in March a deal to stay with the German champions until 2016. He has helped Dortmund win the Bundesliga title for the last two seasons. Interesting. Though, I reckon we need a different type of midfielder.

Goetze but I agree with jay, we need a different type of player as our other midfielders leave us too exposed. If we bring in someone who would run things defensively in midfield too, then I would be chuffed. Imagine: Strootman(example)-Ando/Cleverley/Carrick ------------Goetze - Rooney - Kagawa------------ --------------------------RVP---------------------------- This would mean the end of 442 and a goodbye to wingers (Young can leave either way! between Tony&Nani - latter would be more suited for this formation as he's more versatile).

If its true, no brainer for me from what I've seen of him. Lets not forget we were trying to sign Hazard and Moura for a similar fee too. No idea if he'd even want to come but we might as well make an offer. Doesn't matter if he ain't precisely what we need, this would be situation to take advantage of regardless.

True that, though he's German, so it'll never happen.

as much as Gotze is a favourite of this board, we've got Kagawa now, and as much as Kags may take a season or 2 before he reaches somewhere near his full potential, surely so would Gotze. question is do United need to spend big money on a player like Gotze? at the minute looks to me like there are other areas that would take priority

Getting Götze would be buying a playing because he's too good not to, not because we desperately need him.
I'd have Bender (Lars or Sven, not bothered) and Gündoğan for sure though to add the bite we need. Even if Gündoğan. Holtby to replace Nani and Young (I combine the two as poor Ashley has been dire of late) would be lovely too.

Also, I see Sneijder has been linked with Schalke. I'd love to see that come off actually.

I'd still take Sneijder for a reduced fee. Could link up well with RVP but I can't honestly see us spending money on a midfielder again now.
We have Kagawa and spent the £30m on RVP which would have went on Hazard or Moura. I doubt we have that sort of money to spend again this quickly anyway.

We were in for both RvP and Moura, it wasn't one or the other. We never bid for Hazard. In an ideal world we'll ship out Nani (and in an ideal world Young aswell) and with the money from that and what was supposed to be spent on Moura, we'll buy a creative winger and DM, e.g. Isco and Wanyama. I like the idea of Strootman but I feel we already have a player in that mold in Anderson. If he doesn't sort out his fitness then get rid and get Strootman as well. Wanyama Anderson Rooney Kagawa Isco RvP That could be unbelievable.

Plus we bid for Moura/Hazard apart from Kagz and RvP so i'd like to believe that Fergie would stll be in the hunt for a player who can bring a bit of magic. Him + Holtby + either one of Strootman/Wanayama/ Gundogan. Don;t mind if we ship out Young/Nani. Be disappointed if it was the latter but if it means Goetze coming in then its best option

Andos latest performances seem to suggest he's earned himself another season which is lucky IMO.

Made me lol but yet I certainly would, Sneijder is a world class player, he may have had a relatively poor 12 months or so with Inter but it showed at the WC he's still a top class player.
