Anyone else feel completely deflated? I'm actually gutted. Some people have said "It's a tv show, get over it." but I've fucking lived this show for 8 years. Loved most of it more than any tv show or movie I've ever watched in my life, actually I'd even go as far as to say viewing Game of Thrones has given me as much pleasure and enjoyment as almost anything. Then waited 2 years for the finale and feel let down. I just can't believe it's over and in an unsatisfactory manner. I was going to watch an old episode tonight to remember how good it was but I feel that will be more depressing than enjoyable. I actually feel a little relieved. It lived eight seasons, it was great once but it was sick lately. Now it's sufferings are over.

I think it certainly took us on one hell of a journey. Remembering hold the door today and how gutted I felt!

I think it certainly took us on one hell of a journey. Remembering hold the door today and how gutted I felt! Honestly. Some episodes made me feel completely alien to how I've felt watching other excellent tv shows in the past. Bear in mind that I'd never read the books before starting the series. I started doing research on the books eventually but most stuff in the earlier seasons were completely new to me.
Ned's death, Robb et al's deaths, Joffrey's death, Oberyn's death, Dany emerging from the fire with dragons, Battle of Blackwater, The Door, Hardhome and much more watched for the first time without a clue what was going to happen. I was just completely in awe of the show. It was an unreal experience.

It's all subjective I suppose but I for one enjoyed it from start to finish. Sure there were plenty of flaws in the last 2 seasons, but not enough for me to moan too much. It has set the benchmark for epic TV series, and it will take a monumental effort for anything to have the cultural impact this did. Absolutely gutted its finished.

Only a few times I've ever felt gutted after a shows finished thinking to myself I can't believe that's it. Breaking bad Sons of anarchy Banshee Just name a few.

The red wedding as well, no more shocks than there were in that. Also remember when Jon found out his sword could match the white walkers when it didn't break, that was epic. So many twists and suprises. Remember when season 7 ended and thought we'd never get to this point and here it is, been and gone. Incredible. The season didn't end how I imagined and thought a few things were rushed but none of it will spoil what has been a mesmerising TV show.

The amount of brilliant characters as well. Tyrion, The Hound, Tormund, Ned, Robert, Arya, Sam, Ser Davos, Bron, Lady Olenna, Oberyn, Hodor. All incredibly likeable and some hilarious.
The brilliantly intelligent conversations of the ultimate game players, Varys and Baelish.
The amazing journeys some characters went on for better or for worse, Sansa, Dany, Jon, Jaime, Arya, Bran (until the end), Brienne, Jorah, Theon.
Some of the most utterly brilliant and detestable cunts and villains in TV history such as Joffrey, Cersei, Night King, Ramsay, Tywin, Ser Alliser, Craster, Walder Frey, Meryn Trant.
That isn't to mention the likes of Robb, Catelyn, Stannis, Melisandre, Margaery, Ygritte, Ser Barristan, Greyworm, Missandei, The Brotherhood, The Mountain, Khal Drogo, Jaqen, Mance Rayder, Lysa Arryn, The Reeds amongst many more. Most of whom had pretty important parts to play in the overall story and for the most part all their stories were brilliantly intertwined within the show.

Seeing videos of the cast saying thanks to the fans and stuff gets me kind of choked up. None of the disappointment from my perspective is their fault. Most of them have been brilliant.

Don't necessarily agree with the headline and final sentence but I found it interesting.

Have to say, the casting was spot on too.
I've read the books, and the majority of the actors just fit the roles perfectly (I mean, apart from the age thing, but the show would never have aired with Dany being a 12 year getting raped and abused, or Jon or Robb being 14/15 years old and still leading armies). They had to increase the ages of the characters, that was fair enough.
Can you imagine anyone other than Peter Dinklage as Tyrion? Charles Dance as Tywin? Rory McCann as the Hound? Emilia Clarke as Dany? The list goes on and one, all the way up and ending at Euron Greyjoy, who is a mental bad ass in the books, but a fucking waste in the show.

One of the least fleshed out characters in the show , but to go into detail with him would require time which the showrunners didn't wish to invest. Euron is a mad cunt. It would have been far more believable if he used Dragonbinder to get the dragons, rather than the scorpion, which according to books cannot kill dragons unless they hit in the eye....
