Two people at work have wound me right up talking about the show. Listening to them sitting opposite me was so frustrating. - Arya is now ‘Harry-yah’. You watch the show and hear them pronounce her name ffs - They confused Winterfell and Kings Landing - Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Emilia Clarke are terrible actors apparently - Worst of all, one said that her favourite character in the show is EURON. Book Euron is interesting, but all the amazing characters and you pick show Euron?! Saw a couple of people I know chatting on Facebook yesterday and one of them said the reason they had to rush the show in the end was because the earlier seasons were too slow and boring. I can't comprehend how you make it to the 8th season of a show you considered to be boring to begin with.

I've veered all over the place with my favourite characters at any given time, but Euron is conference league at best. Not read the books so can't compare him with that but he's painfully one note. Still not sure who I'd actually settle on as my favourite though. Has to be Tyrion for me, even though he pittered off towards the end. He would of been the one I would be disappointed to be killed off to early, thankfully it didn't happen

Arya had the promise of becoming a really cool character but they missed it a little imho.

Seems a generic choice but mine is The Hound. Had most of the best lines in the show. The scene where he kills the Lannister soldiers and takes their chickens is still one of my favourites. Also loved the simplicity of "Fuck the King!". I'd have Tyrion and Arya rounding off my top 3.
Then you've got the characters I loved to hate. Joffrey takes some beating in that respect, never despised a character quite so much as him, Cersei was superb throughout and then you have Ramsay's charismatic sadism.
Yeah, I loved watching Baelish as well.
I could go on all day about my favourite type of characters. It's almost unfair to just have a favourite 3. I could write a list of my top 20 and reasons for why I liked them.

The books are full of interesting side stories and potential plots for a prequel and with a better set of writers they could maybe do something interesting with it again but it was slowly dying. Better to nip it in the butt before it goes over the edge.

My favourite is Jon. Others I love (in no particular order): Ned, Hound, Jorah, Stannis, Oberyn, Davos, Sam (hated him at first but he really grew on me), Jaime (likewise), Tyrion, Tywin, Robert Baratheon, Ghost, Old Bear Mormont, Bronn, Varys, Littlefinger, Olenna, Gendry, Beric, Tormund, Arya. And, of course, Hodor.
Actually, typing out that list reminded me how many fantastic characters there were in this show. The end may have been mixed, but no one can take those first 6 seasons (minus most of S5) away from me.

Another of my favourite moments was when Jaqen H'ghar first changed his face. Absolutely loved it, thought it was so cool. A shame that whole storyline became one of the more boring of the first 6 seasons because it promised much more.
I also think Jon being murdered is less talked about because of him being brought back to life. Another brilliantly shocking moment at first and loved the way they did it. Quite liked Ser Alliser despite him being an absolute cunt.
Could go on and on. Best to reminisce about the first 6 seasons than dwell on the disappointing end.

Have to say, the casting was spot on too. I've read the books, and the majority of the actors just fit the roles perfectly (I mean, apart from the age thing, but the show would never have aired with Dany being a 12 year getting raped and abused, or Jon or Robb being 14/15 years old and still leading armies). They had to increase the ages of the characters, that was fair enough. Can you imagine anyone other than Peter Dinklage as Tyrion? Charles Dance as Tywin? Rory McCann as the Hound? Emilia Clarke as Dany? The list goes on and one, all the way up and ending at Euron Greyjoy, who is a mental bad ass in the books, but a fucking waste in the show. Absolutely agree. Even the ones that I thought were bad casting at first ended up being great - Robert, Joffrey and Arya especially. Charles Dance was absolutely perfect as Tywin. Viserys was bang on as well. Euron wasn't great, neither was either Daario, but just about everyone else was great casting.

The Hound, Tormund, Tyrion and Joffrey were my favourite characters. Least favourite were Jon and Dany, but they're my least favourite characters in the books as well.

For me its Jon, Tyrion, Tormund, the hound, Bronn. They all equally share the mantle of the best character for various reasons.
