The scene of Jon petting Ghost at the end was literally copy and pasted from an episode in season 4.

After binge watching 8 seasons in ....well no time at all I liked the ending. Most of my favourite characters still living. More disappointed that more direwolves aren’t still with us tbh. Dani became everything Cersei was so her demise was inevitable really.
Loved both the long night episode and the battle of the bastards.
Ramsay heads and shoulders above the character villain of Joffrey, I expect that was the point. Whatever you thought of Joffrey, Ramsay was much worse.
So now onto Chernobyl which is the next must see apparently? Still need to watch the second season of Fortitude.

Joffrey was despicable but more like a spoiled, sadistic, out of control child. Ramsey was truly cold blooded.

Ramsey was absolutely worse than Joffrey. Both were fucked in the head, but Ramsey was capable of extreme violence himself, rather than getting someone else to do his dirty work. There was always a real sense of jeopardy in scenes with Ramsey, because that fucker could stab someone in the neck at any second. As far as I can remember, the only person Joffrey killed himself was a tied up and incapacitated women, because he was a coward. But with that said, Joffrey is still one of my favourite characters. I loved to hate that snivelling little shit.

I loved to hate that snivelling little shit. Yeah this is it for me. Ramsay was worse than Joffrey in the sense that he could be as brutally violent as anyone himself but maybe I'm a little sadistic, he was kinda likeable and charismatic. You knew he was capable of following up his threats himself and wouldn't need someone else to do his dirty work. Also had some funny scenes, particularly with the sausage.
I hated Joffrey in every scene he was in. Nothing charismatic or remotely likeable about him. Cowardly wanker who threatened everyone but would've also been killed by everyone had he tried to kill them himself. All of his " I am the king!!!!" statements to try and make people bend to his will. I fucking despised him, the kid who played him was superb.
He had some superb relationships with 2 characters in particular. The scenes with Tyrion were always good but would make you squirm as well, particularly at the Purple Wedding with the way he treats him. I wanted to jump through the screen and strangle the cunt myself. But I also loved his scenes with Tywin, the way he handled him was brilliant.

Ramsay is like Voldemort and Joffrey is like Umbridge. Ramsay is the greater threat to the big characters etc. but Joffrey is so uniquely vile and hateable because of his cowardice that he is even more loathed.
Worth noting that book Ramsay has more in common with Joffrey than show Ramsay. He's not a particularly skilled fighter and seems to be a poor tactician as well.

I think both were horrible characters and I enjoyed watching both their demises.

Euron is the only one madder than Ramsey

An alpha sadist. When Joffrey was challenged he became affronted and pathetic. Euron was a twat but there was something more likeable about his character whereas the other two were just vile.

What season does the book go up to? I presume the series goes beyond the written work?

The series barely touched on the Iron Island stories. They pretty much go up to end of season 5 for most of the main characters and have a pile of other characters who didnt make the show.

Ashamed at myself for not seeing it earlier. I've started rewatching it a bunch but rarely get past the red wedding so I don't remember the middle seasons much at all.

Rewatching the earlier seasons of GoT is as depressing as watching Premier League Years: "insert years where we were brilliant".
Just a sad reminder of how good something used to be. I've rewatched every season multiple times in the past. I'd say I've seen the first couple of seasons a good 7 or 8 times. They are brilliant and you do pick up on new things all the time, particularly foreshadowing of events to come in the future.
