i'm not convinced either tiote or cabaye is the player we should get, especially for the fees newcastle will be after for either of them. 20 mil for either of them is too much Yup. Moutinho all day long.

If we couldn't get Moutinho, £20 million for Tiote would be a slight stretch but definately not a disaster. I'd be very happy with Tiote the player, just the fee is a little high. Can't scrimp in this area anymore though, I'd offer Porto more than Spurs and Moutinho bigger wages as long as they aren't over £100, 000-ish to convince him AVB is good but not a great. So we're all in agreement that Moutinho is, at present, our ideal signing? I'm just preparing myself mentally for losing out on him to Spurs and all the United talk being nothing more than rumors.

Seems, according to the majority of 'ITKs', that Moutinho is going to Spurs.

What if Moutinho was smokescreen for Moura ? Now that I come to think of it, I hope not. We need Moutinho more than Moura.

We may have no interest in Moutinho whatsoever.

Be honest. With each passing day are you preparing for the "happy with what I have" speech from Fergie? "Anderson and Cleverley are like new signings" Because, we've all been singing from this song-sheet since Rome. "Have to buy a top class midfielder, it's beyond a joke" etc. And we haven't.
Not trying to piss on any parade. Just preparing myself for the worst......

Fcuk, I keep trying not to think that but with what Fergie said I inevitably tend to believe we're still trying to bring in another midfielder. Baines, more than likely, then probably done though.
Also, SAF might just have said that to keep everyone from freaking out again about our transfer budget etc, otherwise I don't see why midfielders are available (ones that'd more than improve our team and ones we desperately need), yet they move to other clubs and we do nothing?
We have to believe that someone in the higher up positions at the club realize we need another midfielder.

to be honest as said i dont think he is a target at all. This. Fergie doesn't tend to sign players on the back of one good tournament. I would be surprised if he had him lined up before the Euro's. Hope I'm wrong, though.

@ stewart
You've got a valid point mate, was thinking that myself.
I hope were horribly wrong cause if we don't strengthen then were going to fall behind.

Porto coach Vitor Pereira has suggested that any club wanting Joao Moutinho would need to meet his release clause.
The 25-year-old was one of the stars of Euro 2012 and he has been strongly linked with a move to England with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur credited with an interest.
Porto have always insisted they are not looking to sell - but coach Pereira admits that if somebody wants to pay Moutinho's buy-out clause of just over £30million, there is nothing they can do.
"We very much want him to stay and we are not looking to sell," he told Abola.
"But this is football and you have termination clauses, for us he has been great and helped us achieve the results we have."
_________________- Sorry, but they're having a laugh there. He's just about worth £20million.
Awful lot of bluffing going on by clubs this transfer window. Seems like one of those situations whereby one big transfer sets the wheels in motion. Everyones waiting for their player to be the most valuable not to have been transferred.
As far as i'm aware Porto have already signed a replacement for Moutinho, some Columbian guy.
