jim i hear what your saying, i hear what your allsaying and what you've just said highlights what i'm saying. apologies if i am not being clear. my point is that i would rather a carrick type whose main function is protect but is also technically gifted. moutinho is not that, the guy is a creative force at his best and yes he can get stuck in like scholes, the ball sticks to him like scholes but i want someone to compete with carrick as i feel scholes and cleverly can play next to him. if we get that type and we have money still then this deal would be marvelous. if scholes is injured tom clevrly can step in and worst case scenario kagawa can play there, if carrick is out we really only have jones to play there, i'm not against that so far as its what he does all season so the guy can settle in a postion

I get the feeling that, if indeed we want to bring in Moutinho, we need to wrap it up asap. If Spurs really are interested they'll likely have to flog Modric before they'll have the cash to launch a competitive bid. Even then, if we can bid 25 early, before Modric is gone, we'll be in with a good chance I reckon.

Yeah. Agreed Jay. Specially when you consider the fact that Moutinho has been quoted saying he would love to play under AVB again.

The only section huffing about Moutinho to Spurs are the press though, as with United I suppose, but what on earth would convince him of going to Spurs over United?
A bidding war? Pfft, we'll match or better what they can offer. AVB? Seriously doubt he'll change his career path to play under a manager, could be wrong though. They're not even in the CL, a competition Porto are currently playing in.
Anyway, many murmurings that he met with the Porto president last week and asked to leave. Time will tell I suppose, until then we'll have to put up with bullshit articles and speculation :/

Yeah. Agreed Jay. Specially when you consider the fact that Moutinho has been quoted saying he would love to play under AVB again. I though his quote was more like he liked playing under AVB and that he was a good manager and he wished him the best for Spurs and somewhere in that he mentioned he would love to play under him again. wasn't it?? if so not to make too much of it , cos that's what i remember

Anyway, its not that big a deal. I'd be happy if he joins us but not too fussed if he doesn't.

oh ok, my bad, i thought you meant that he wanted to play Under AVB at spurs (Specifically).
But i'd be fussed if he didn't join us as we are running out of options for another Mid and i am not a fan of Demebele so not looking forward to that.

I see what you're saying, but you can always trust Fergie to come up with an unknown magic signing! I doubt we're really in for any of the names we've been linked with bar Modric. Besides Moutinho only strikes me as a 'good enough' player like Meireles. I could be wrong but I've only seen him play during the Euros and its very dangerous to sign someone on the back of a decent international tournament. If we sign him for 25 million or so I can see fans getting on his back in a year if he doesn't sort our midfield out. That's a lot of pressure! Wouldn't mind giving Ando another year instead.

Wouldn't mind giving Ando another year instead. Whooooa, steady on there Ginger! i think we have given Anderson more than enough chances to prove that he can manage the CM for us. We need a replacement IMO, even if we dont ship Anderson on. we cant count on someone as physically unreliable as Anderson.

But somehow I refuse to accept he's completely worthless. Not saying he'll be the solution to all our problems. But if the pair of him and Cleverley can turn it on like they did last season for even 20-25 games, it'll be worth a gamble.

I also have no problem with Ando getting another chance.
If, however, it comes at the expense of us buying another midfielder then I have a major fucking problem with it.
