Yeah Hardy packed on some serious muscle. Wonder what he did to get in that shape. Steroids! A solid two months of intense training and creatine could do the trick. You have to figure they are provided some of the best trainers and dont worry about a 9-5. way longer than 2 months. but essentially you are right, he probably ate the best quality food money could buy, world class instruction and the dedication to get it done

Awesome movie it really was as people stated pretty hard to follow DK but nolan definatly done the best he could , my take on the end of the film is that nolan has left it to the imagination for both sets of opinions ...
for the people who thought bruce survives : the obvious point where they show us lucius fox finding out that the auto pilot had been fixed , the fact that him and selina had the "eraser" so they could both start fresh with a clean slate , and the infamous cafe scene where alfred see`s him with his own eyes
but for the people who feel differently : how could bruce possibly survive the blast radious after evacuating the bat with only seconds to go ? , the image in the cafe was focused entirely on bruce selina bared no importance in the scene it was just focused on bruce smiling and showing the happyness alfred craved for him which would suggest its alfred fixated on his dream it is of my opioin at the end we are seeing alfreds dream of happiness for bruce
brilliant movie !

Also, did anyone at any point fail to understand what Bane was saying?
I thought his voice through the mask was fine but I've spoken to people who struggled to understand him at times.

Only missed one or 2 words with Bane, though I could say the same about others. It was fine for me, maybe the English accent helped. Been waiting for this thread.
I thought the film was thoroughly brilliant. My only 1 small gripe was the twist at the end with Bane/Talia, meant you didn't really know that much back story about Bane.
The thought Alfred imagined the last bit didn't really occur to me at all, I just perceived it how it was shown. Its like Nolan to leave thing ambiguous, but that wasn't really anywhere near an Inception style ending. Another part of that is, he left instructions to Blake on where to find the batcave. Suggestive he was going to fake Batmans death, not that he just happened to sacrifice himself and had snuck him into the will at some point earlier.
I loved the film. Following TDK was going to be a big ask, but I think it was superior, albeit I'll say that with more conviction after a repeat viewing. I thought he really took hold of a strong character arcs with both Wayne and Blake. Some I see didn't like when Wayne went to prison, I thought it was good. For me it really tapped into the essence of Rocky, the downed hero raising himself up ready for the rematch.
The action was superb. Batman Begins, fair enough a smaller budget, had a lot weaker action as it suffered a bit from the rapid-fire-shot close ups, making action hard to follow. The Bane Batman fight were superbly choreographed. Absolutely brutal for a 12a, amazing they snuck that rating again. Most films tend to have a lot of unrealistic 1 punch knock out styles, or over choreographed wire fu. So it was great to see them using 2 skilled combatants really slugging it out, real visceral fights. That scene where the 2 of them squaring up on the steps at the end with the ashes in the air was just pure spectacle. I was actually pumping my fists as they fought.
I'll admit I admit I groaned when I heard Anne Hathaway was catwoman. I got that way wrong, she was excellent. Caine was a powerhouse, a lesser actor would have over-acted, over sentimentalised his scenes. It was fitting how he reacted at the very end, not suspicious.

i think if bruce wayne had died they'd have made it more obvious. alfred would see him and smile, look down at his paper, look up again and wayne is gone. or something like that. but they left the ending with robin open for you to imagine the rest so who knows bane - i thought he was good. i'm not a fan of too many of the DC heels, Joker is the best in any comic but after that I think marvel trumps DC for bad guys. but scarecrow and bane are good and in thought they did a good job with two-face. I'd have liked to have seen more of the nutters in the trilogy, more of victor zsasz, calendar man, mad hatter. stews point about the prison section breaking up the momentum is interesting, didn't really see it that way myself cos knowing that bane broke batmans back in the comics i didn't expect them to do it mid-film but they did so the prison section and his recovery time was pretty necessary. plus it gave gotham time to get run down before he could come back and save it overall love the trilogy, just wish they were doing 4 instead of 3. questions, 1) how good is bruce waynes knee brace? 2) where the fuck did scarecrow come from, had he been locked up in arkham asylum? 3) anyone know what they had in mind for joker if heath ledger hadn't passed on? Well the studio owns the rights to the Batman movies, so they probably wanted an ambiguous ending. That way, the next director they get on board will be able to decide whether he wants to continue with Batman and Robin or start fresh. Bale has already said that he'd consider staying on. It's only Nolan that has said he won't continue.

If there's no more Nolan then I'd rather have no more Bale.

the storyline arc just seems to have finished for bales incarnation of BW / BM. i'm pretty sure they wanted to convey that he was getting older and on his last legs phsyically.
the rumour is that the batman reboot in 2015 needs to tie in with a justice league. if those guys, green lantern, wonder woman, superman etc get involved then there is a supernatural element that doesn't fit in with nolan/bale batman.

there is a supernatural element that doesn't fit in with nolan/bale batman. Agree. The trilogy is EPIC. Just leave it alone now.

just like to use this thread to point out again, batman 1989 is an epic, awesome film that i watched over and over again growing up, and still arguably the definitive batman movie.
i always thought batman returns was a poor 2nd best, and even though i was 12 when it came out, i knew to avoid batman forever and batman and robin when that came out.

I've got the Batman 1989-1997 boxset and although the standard does clearly slip, I gotta say I love them all in their own way. Even Arnie's Mr Freeze.

Nicholson is sublime. On several occasions I've had the Ledger v Nicholson debate and whilst Ledger's Joker is fresher in my mind it's by no means clear cut for me.
