Bold statement tommy, you're making me excited.
It'll only be out in a while here though, definitely on my cinema list!

I don't mean perfect as in the best film ever, just that it doesn't have any flaws. It's a perfect balance of everything good in a film, with just the right amount of comedy to retain it's seriousness/drama overall.
I loved it.

Well, I might have to go see it, and enjoy it as the generic (yet apparently brilliant) action movie it is.

It may be a great action/thriller, but Bond it is not. Just because the main character is called James Bond doesn't make it a Bond film. The franchise ended with Die Another Day. Just seen this. Load of bollocks. This film is as "Bond" as it gets. They've made a special effort for the 50th anniversary. The classic Bond humour is back but it doesn't take away from the drama and tension of the story. It's a perfect Bond film.

Watched it tonight and loved it. Not ever really been a Bond fan though, so maybe there is something in Bestie's reasoning. I've never disliked the films but this is the only one I've ever seen that I'd watch again straight away.

Like most Cormac McCarthy novels it's not the easiest of books to read because of the heavy prose and unusual structure of his writing, but it's still enjoyable and nowhere near as challenging as 'Blood Meridian' or as relentlessly bleak as 'The Road'. Worth the read! Loved the film though, Bardem was brutal as Anton Chigurh.

It's fucking epic. Best Bond ever bar none. perfect film really. I agree. I went to see it last week and absolutely loved it. It's one of those films that comes along, you go to it and you just can't fault it at all. Daniel Craig is fantastic in it as are Bardem and Dench.

So anyway, I caved and saw Skyfall yesterday. And okay, it was pretty good. Daniel Craig still isn't Bond (I'm 'Craig-pouting as I write this, so you all know it's an important and serious point') and the opening music sequence wasn't great - Bond just shouldn't be in there, not so prominently anyway. I'm so irritated they are still messing with the Gun barrel sequence. Apparently Mendes wanted it built into the film like 'Royale 2006, so maybe it's a blessing that atrocity didn't work. But EoN, stop dicking around with it and put Bond walking across a white background and shooting at the gun barrel up front for God's sake! That gets you in the 'Bond' mood better than anything. The score was pretty disappointing, mostly because I miss David 'John Barry mk. II' Arnold. It also took about two hours for the John Barry Theme to actually get a proper, un-mixed, airing. But the film is very good, and it's what Casino Royale 2006 *should* have been. Bond is (finally, sort of) back.

That's a fair point Bestie, it is what Casino Royale should have been.
Absolutely.

That's a fair point Bestie, it is what Casino Royale should have been. Absolutely. They are quite different films, Casino Royale was meant to be '007 Begins', whereas this was set later when he's actually the experienced Bond. Casino Royale was still fantastic though it didn't need to be something else. If Skyfall ahd been the first Craig film it wouldn't have worked as well.
