Here's a name for the next Bond:
Ray Stevenson.
Check out Season 7 of Dexter and you'll get exactly what I'm talking about.

Hmm, that's an interesting choice Bestie.
How's about Clive Owen? I think he'd be able to pull off a Bond to some extent.

He should be Bond right now, never mind the next one. Disgrace that Craig got it ahead of him. Everyone wanted Owen.

Back before Daniel Craig got it, all the clamour/buzz/industry talk - that Show Bus nonsense, said that Clive Owen was lined up for the role. Plus, Owen was the guy a lot of the fans were asking for, all those fan forum, opinion poll things showed Clive Owen as the favourite. It was a fairly big shock when Craig got it I remember.
I don't want to see the debate hi-jacked but Daniel Craig is not the man. He certainly isn't bloody Bond.

Hmm, I think Craig did fairly well considering what was expected when it was announced, enjoyed the three he was involved in.
I wasn't really scouring the net at the time of thew bond announcement so sorry if the Clive Owen suggestion was a tad daft, just fit the bill at the time.

He could be the next Bond, and should be the current one. You picked a winner mate!

finally seen it. brilliant film.
i can understand why it might divide opinion. it's not as fast paced or interesting as the bourne movies, but as bestie says it's bond, not bourne. i don't mind a bit of bourne grittyness as long as it's subtle, but bond historically has always been a refined, suave kind of guy and that needs to stay the essence of his character, and i think they did an alright job on that front.
there are certain cliches in bond movies, and they need to be in there, but you can do those in a way that gives a nod to them without doing them full-on. like instead of doing the line 'shaken not stirred', she shook the mixer before he said owt and he just smiled and said 'perfect'. i think stuff like that is a nice touch.
daniel craig doesn't really look like a classic bond but i think that certain charisma he's got makes him a great bond. i think dominic west might have been a good bond, but there aren't really many other obvious candidates IMO.
cracking film, will re-watch all the daniel craig bonds because this one has done it for me where the first two didn't quite. and now when i go back and re-watch i'll prob enjoy them more.
javier bardem is awesome. haven't seen him since No Country For Old Men, in which he was awesome too. perfect modern bond villain. arguably shouldn't have killed him off

Watched it yesterday. SPOILERS.
It's an improvement to all the bond films I have watched in terms of storyline I think... but seeing Bond out of his suit and into a hunting jacket gave me weird feelings. But... I didn't think it was something I would get out of my seat and say OUTSTANDING! or Bravo O' Chap! Bravo! - not... that I do anyway.
I just thought the antagonist seems a bit easy to kill, and the plot itself isn't really new or extravagant - where the villain allows himself to be captured, etc. I was hoping for someone more shocking and masterful against Bond. And Bond's physical demise isn't really explored much is it? He fails the test but everything exceedingly goes to plan for him. And Bond travelling all the way North from London... makes me wonder if he had loads to talk to M rather than what Raoul was planning. And the attack on the mansion is okay.
And M... from a shot to the leg? I don't know - I felt a bit underwhelmed by that whole bit.
I'm not sure if I'm expecting more than what I would have expected because of the rave it has got - and reading some stuff here on this thread... but I would say it was not a masterpiece, nor outstanding - but an enjoyable good film.
PS. Lack of go-go gadgets = minus points.
